C.A.C SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON
Eternal Plan of God for Man.
Feb. 10, 2019.

II | OBSTACLES TO GOD’S ETERNITY (1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Ephesians 4:22-32)
Obstacles to God’s eternity are those things that impede our progress into eternal life. What could these obstacles be in the real sense? In the case of the young rich ruler, in the parable of Jesus in Matthew 19:16-22, his material or worldly possessions are the obstacles to his entering into eternal life. What are other things? Uncleanness, immorality, self, sin and Satan etc.

A.   THE OBSTACLES (1 Cor. 6:9-10).
Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God (1 Cor. 6:10).
i.   To enter the Kingdom of God, many things (obstacles) would come our ways to prevent us from entering the Kingdom (cf. Matt. 18:7). We must be determinedly prepared to enter the eternity of God (Matt. 7:13; Lk. 13:24).
ii.  Followings are some sets of people that would be hindered from Christ’s eternal bliss, as gleaned from 1 Corinthians 6:9-10)
a.   The unrighteous (v. 9; cf. Matt. 5:37);
b.   Fornicators (v. 9, 13-20): Our bodies are God’s temple, and so are not meant for fornication. The sin of fornication/adultery is deeper than we think. It goes beyond just having carnal knowledge of another (Matt. 5:27-28). Fornicators are dogs who would have themselves to blame (Rev. 14:4-5; 22 :15);
c.   Idolaters (v. 9; Exod. 20:2): Idolatry means following/worshiping other gods/idols; that include whatever man loves more than God —- properties, job, spouse, children, etc. What is it you love more than God? Renounce it before it is too late!
Thieves (v. 10; cf. Exod. 20:15): That stealing of whatever form is rampant these days doesn’t mean you should follow suite (cf. Exod. 23:2). Covetousness leads to stealing. Quit stealing (Eph. 4:28); and
e.  Drunkards, mockers, revilers, extortioners, etc. will not inherit the Kingdom of God (v. 10).
iii. Revelation 21:27 warns us to do away with these ungodly attitudes and actions lest we become part of the unclean things that would not be allowed to enter into God’s eternal rest.
What the devil is out to do is to put impediment on our ways to eternal life. Since he has lost eternity with God, he is doing everything to restrict anyone from entering the place. Will he succeed in obstructing you? Take every measure — self-denial, conscious holy living, practical Christianity and watchfulness to make his efforts futile.

B.   THE WAY OUT (1 Cor. 6::11; Eph. 4:22-32)
And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God (1 Cor. 6:11).
i.  God does not want anyone to perish, but that all men should be saved and be holy (1 athess. 4:3).
ii. In Revelation 21:8; 22:15, we are not in the dark as to what can prevent one from entering God’s eternal rest. We should consciously, with the help of the Holy Spirit, avoid them (cf. 2 Cor. 6:14ff).
iii. Mortify the old nature (Eph. 4:22-32), so that you can overcome the works of the flesh (cf. Gal. 5:21ff). Do not do as the Gentiles do (Eph. 4:17-20).
iv. Be regularly sanctified by the circumcision of the heart and regular washing in the blood of Jesus (Deut. 30:6; 1 Cor. 6:11; Eph. 5:27).
v. Enter through the narrow gate of Christ (Matt. 7:13-14; Jn. 14:6).
vi. Be prayerful and careful in the Christian journey (1 Cor. 10:11,12; 1 Pet. 5:8-9), because enduring to the end is the sure way to eternal salvation (Matt. 24:13; Rev. 2:7,11,17,26; 3:5,12,21).
vii.In a nutshell, the way to overcome the obstacles to God’s Kindgom is to accept Jesus’ lordship, follow Him, and remain in Him uncompromisingly.
viii.The only antidote to escape from the obstacles to life is Jesus (John 14:6). No one can approach the Father, except through Jesus who is the way, truth and life. You need to Bank on God’s grace to make it and make holiness your watchword, and the Word of God your anchor. You will make it in Jesus name.

LIFE APPLICATION
Someone was using magnet sometimes ago, and his intention was to attract so many particles with it, but to his dismay, the magnet only picked particles that are metallic in nature and left others. The truth is that God’s eternity will not entertain abomination, unclean, unholy, immoral elements. These are nothing but obstacles that would hinder so many folks from being at home with God in eternity, in spite of the promise Jesus made in John 14:1-4. Jesus’ promise is selective, anyway. He has not promised the sinful, abominable, unrepentant, etc. a home with His Father. Will God’s magnet for eternity pick you into His eternal Kingdom? The ball is now in your court.

CONCLUSION
We thank God for the conclusion of lesson two. So far so good, we have been able to know that there are some things that serve as obstacles to being with God, eternally. We have been fully informed that is is the will of God that we are with Him in eternity in joy and bliss. He will wipe away all tears and we shall be with be with Him. We shall see Him as He is. There shall be no need of light or temple. Our sincere prayer is that we shall all be there, in Jesus’ name. Amen. However, let us be wary of the obstacles on the way. That has been the import of this wonderful lesson. Remain eternally bound with God, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
