C.A.C SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON.
That the Scriptures Must be Fulfilled.
UNIT III: THE SCRIPTURES WILL BE FULFILLED.
DATE: November 10th, 2019.

LESSON NINE:
THE REMAINING END-TIME EVENTS.

The gospel must be preached everywhere, then the end would come (Matt. 24:14)

MEMORY SCRIPTURE

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

(Matthew 24:14)

BRIEF COMMENT

Jesus asserts that the gospel must be preached to everyone before the end comes. He wanted His disciples to know that one of the signs of the end of the age is that the gospel must be preached to everybody as witness. This is to prevent anyone from anyone from giving any tenable excuse as to why they have not accepted Jesus Christ and prepare for His second coming.

To hasten the second coming of Christ, every serious Christian must be ready to propagate the gospel and carry its message to every nook and cranny of the world. Without laying in heart the issue of persecution, Christians all over the world must be ready to go to nations of the world to preach Jesus, His works and teachings, all He did in the past and what He is coming to do in His second coming.

Many Christians want Jesus to come quickly because of the evil that is prevalent in the world. Yet they are not ready to propagate the gospel. Are you not one of those who are reluctant to preach the Word of God, who are found of giving different excuses for not doing so. This scripture says that the end will not come until the gospel has reached every land. Begin to do something about that from henceforth. God will give you the ability.

INTRODUCTION
TEXTUAL SOURCE: MATTHEW
24:1-14; ACTS 1:8; 5:42; 13:1FF

We thank God for the successful conclusion of lesson 8, last week. What a great and wonderful experiences in the presence of God! We believe that the teachings in lesson 8 (THE FULFILLED END-TIME EVENTS) concerning Israel and other nations have further exposed us to those things God anticipated with respect to Israel as a nation, and the other nations, and how these have been so far fulfilled.

Unit III, THE SCRIPTURE WILL BE FULFILLED, starts with lesson 9 THE REMAINING END-TIME EVENTS, which discusses the remaining parts of these things God said would happen in the end times, that we are still expecting to be fulfilled, whether in part, or fully.

The challenge is that, we should be vigilant and beware, because on the last days, evil will be rampant, false prophets will be on the rise, many of Jesus’ disciples will be seriously persecuted and many will be deceived, and some would deny the faith. However, according to the Scripture, these would not mark the end. They are just the beginning of the troubles that would befall the whole world before the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are still expecting some other things to happen before the end would eventually come.

May God open our minds to understand the teachings of the Scripture regarding the end-time events, and be always ready for His Coming, so that the devil will not catch us unawares. May we not be deceived, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

INTRODUCTION TO EACH DIVISION

This lesson is divided into two divisions, I and II, and each of the divisions is further subdivided into A and B.

DIVISION I: THE REMAINING PERILOUS EVENTS

Jesus emphatically said that in the end-time, we should beware of deceit. There would be many deceivers, who would deceive many. He also foretold wars and rumours or war, famine, earthquakes, and pestilence, etc. These and many more are perils of the end time which we shall discuss in this section.

DIVISION II: THE GOSPEL MUST SATURATE THE EARTH

In the end-time, many witnesses would rise to preach Christ, either with good or ulterior motives. These witnesses would be everywhere preaching and warning the people of the imminent second coming of Jesus Christ, not minding the danger that accompanies it. This division is out to throw more light on how the gospel would saturate the whole earth heralding the end.

LESSON OUTLINE
I. THE REMAINING PERILOUS EVENTS
A. MANY WILL BE DECEIVED
B. THERE WILL BE COSMIC DISTURBANCES

II. THE GOSPEL MUST SATURATE THE EARTH
A. MANY WITNESSES WILL RISE
B. THE WORD OF GOD WILL BE RAMPART

LESSON EXPOSITION
I. THE REMAINING PERILOUS EVENTS
 (Matthew 24:1-13)

Jesus has forewarned every Christians to beware of false teachers and their teachings, otherwise they will be swept away by their teachings and thereby denied the faith. Something is perilous when it is dreadful, fearful and dangerous. Aren’t these terrible events perilous? You can eventually avoid some of them, if you make the rapture.

A. MANY WILL BE DECEIVED (vv. 1-4)

And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you” (v. 4).

i. vv. 1,2: The disciples came to Him to show Him the buildings of the beautiful temple, richly furnished with gifts and offerings, desiring to know what Jesus thought of the magnificence of the temple, of which Christ foretells total ruin and destruction.

ii. vv. 3,4: The disciples enquired about the particular time when it will happen, and the signs of the end. Christ gave them no answer to that (cf. Acts 1:7), but cautioned them, and by extension, cautions us today, Take heed that no one deceives you, because during the time of the end, many will be deceived by what will be happening.

iii. The time of the end will be so terrible that many will claim that they are the Christ (pseudo-christs), by the signs and wonders they will be performing, and these will cause many people to be deceived.

iv. This prophecy has been fulfilled in part, in that, there are lots of false prophets/ pastors/teachers/evangelists/christs, today. Still, we should expect more till the time of the anti-Christ. Don’t be surprised; that’s the Scripture.

v. Every Christian must remember that Jesus said that because evil will abound, many would not be able to hold on to their faith. But He further established that only those who endure to the end will be saved. Receive the grace to endure to the end.

B. THERE WILL BE COSMIC DISTURBANCES (vv. 6-13)

For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places (v. 7).

i. v. 6: Jesus foretells wars and rumours of war in every part of the world, but He quickly cautions the disciples, See that you are not troubled. Why? We are bid to expect it, and even worse, because the end is still to come.

ii. vv. 7,8: Jesus predicted other judgments that will befall the people of the world famines, pestilences and earthquakes. With all these happening in the places, it is just the beginning of sorrow, Jesus emphasised (cf. Eph. 5:6; Col. 2:8,18; 2 Thess. 2:3).

iii. vv. 9,10: The time of the end will witness great tribulation and persecution of Jesus’ disciples, Many will be hated, and there will be killings in many places (cf. 2 Cor. 11:23-25). As a result, many shall be offended, first falling out with, and then falling off from their profession of faith in Christ. We are witness to these worldwide events.

iv. vv. 11,12: The issue of false prophets will continue to be on the increase in every part of the world and many disciples will be deceived. With all this prevalent situation in the world, lawlessness will be rampant and the love of many will wax cold (cf. Rev. 2:2-4).

v. v. 13: The only way out is to endure to the end (cf. Rev. 3:10).

vi. As heavenly conscious Christians, we know that all Jesus’ predictions about the end-time will surely come to pass. Therefore, we must be ready to persevere and keep His commandments in the face of fierce tribulations and persecutions (Rev. 3:8,10).

LESSON DERIVED

1. Understand that the end is the time of deception; be watchful, lest you fall into the devil’s trap.

2. Many things would happen comically to signal the coming of Christ. Are they not already happening? Are you prepared for the coming?

WORK TO DO

With what we are experiencing in all parts of the world, can we say the end of the age is around the corner?

SUGGESTED ANSWER TO WORK TO DO

1. Yes.

2. Looking at what is happening in the church and in the world today — unfaithfulness, deceit, heretical teachings, perverted miracles and other perilous happenings around the globe —- one can deduce that the end is around the corner.

3. Jesus foretold that at the end, we shall witness war and rumours of war. Many nations of the world have had their share of this saga and it is a proof that the end is here.

4. We have begun to experience famine, food shortage, pestilences and earthquakes and these have caused loss of many lives.

5. The reality of “Terrorism” all over the world is proving that the end is at the corner.

6. Many have claimed that they are Christ or Messiah when they are mere fakes. This is another indication that the end of the age is around the corner.
