C.A.C SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON For December 1st, 2019. That the Scriptures Must be Fulfilled. UNIT III: THE SCRIPTURES WILL BE FULFILLED.

C.A.C SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON.
That the Scriptures Must be Fulfilled.
UNIT III: THE SCRIPTURES WILL BE FULFILLED.
DATE: December 1st, 2019.

II. WILL BE SAVED BY LOVING LORD (Zech. 12:2,3,9; 14:1-4,16)

To save a person it to show love by not allowing the person to be destroyed. God loves Israel. Therefore, whatever He allows to happen to them is a result of His love. God would remove iniquity far away from them. It is part of His covenant for them to take their sins away. Regardless of their current state, there shall be a remnant.

A. SUPPER NATURALLY DEFENDED AGAINST ATTACKS (12:1-9)

And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it (v. 3).

i. v. 1: This is the Omniscient, unquestionable God projecting into the future, as to what would become of His recalcitrant people. None of us is hidden from His sight (Psa. 136:7).

ii. vv. 3,4: The tones of these verses all the surrounding peoples… though all nations of the earth are gathered against it, immediately suggests that nations would be divinely allowed to gather against Jerusalem.

iii. v. 2:… Cup of drunkenness… Jerusalem is pictured as a large basin from which the nation will figuratively drink with eagerness, only to find themselves becoming intoxicated, disoriented, and thus easy prey for divine judgment at the end, when nations gather to attack Jerusalem (cf. v. 9; Ezek. 38:1-6, 14-16; Dan. 11:40-44; Rev. 9:13-16; 14:20; 16:12-16).

iv. Jerusalem would be protected by the Almighty God. The heathen nations that come against Jerusalem, would be fighting against God. The heathen nations would fear Jerusalem, because they would actually come face to face with, and fear Jerusalem’s God.

v. v. 3: Like lifting a heavy weight, Jerusalem will seriously injure (literally) any people that try to gain victory over it. They would surely be cut in pieces.

vi. vv. 4-9: This is due to divine intervention. God promised: I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem, and this is what He would do. The great armies of the heathen, who come against God’s people and Jerusalem in particular, gathering around to destroy her, will be destroyed by God. It will appear the whole world is against them, but God’s people will win the victory. God fights their battle against those who oppose them.

vii. Jesus would fight their battle and defeat the anti-Christ, the enemy of God and of the Jews (Ezek. 38:22; Rev. 19:17) They will weep and mourn in repentance, as they realise that the one nailed to the cross is their Messiah, whom they have been waiting for (Zech 12:9-14)

B. SAVED BY HER MESSAIAH’S INTERVENTION (14:1-21)

Then the LORD will go forth and fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle (v. 3).

i. v. 1: The day of the Lord is a technical term for God’s wrath unleashed against sinners. It speaks of the Day when His wrath is unleashed, resulting in the establishment of the Lord’s millennial reign on earth (cf. Isa. 2:12). The atrocities mentioned here are what trigger God’s wrath against the world in the Day of the Lord.

ii. v. 2: God Himself will gather the nations, using them to purge, refine, and judge (cf. Rev. 16:13-14,16). Their presence results in an unprecedented time of national calamity. This is the climax of the time of Jacob’s distress (Jer. 30:5-7).

iii. vv. 3-4: To prevent the eradication of His remnant, the Lord will personally intervene to fight against the gathered nations. Just as He fought for His people in the past, so He will do in the future, as the ultimate Warrior-King. Jesus will literally return to the Mt. Of Olives, located east of the Kidron Valley (cf. Acts 1:11).

iv. On December 6,2017,President Donald Trump of the U.S.A formally recognised Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and stated that the American embassy would be moved from Tel. Aviv to Jerusalem. Do you not see this as the finger of the Messiah?

v. vv. 5-15: The Messiah would be returning with His saints to crush the devil, bind him, and reign with the saints for 1000 years. The ungodly would regret.

vi. vv. 16-21: There is a beneficial end in the very judgement of God, for through them the nations will at last learn righteousness, and the fruits will be “universal homage to the Universal Ruler, ” Jehovah of Hosts, in the person of the Messiah, under whose sway all nations shall then be blessed.

vii. Eventually, God would fulfill His plan to bring Israel and the elects into His kingdom (John 6:45; Rom. 11:25). The literal Israel will no longer be God’s special chosen people. Instead, anyone who comes to Jesus Christ is to take the special position (Romans 9:6-8; 10:13; Phil. 3:3)

LESSON DERIVED

1. None can fight God’s chosen, because God is always with them as the mighty One.

2. Jesus is coming back as the Lion of Judah, to judge the world (both Jews and Gentiles). Are you prepared to face Him? Repent and accept Him, now!

QUESTIONS

1. Why was Jerusalem besieged, and what was the outcome of that siege?

2. Describe the Messiah’s intervention in Israel’s situation, in the end.

SUGGESTED ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS
ANSWER TO QUESTION 1

Jerusalem is the capital city located in modern Israel and considered by many to be one of the holiest places in the world.

She shall be besieged. That is, enemy armies shall gather around her to attack her.

According to the Scripture, these great armies will assemble against the nation of Israel to exterminate her.

This siege will make them to come back to their senses and accept the Messiah they once rejected.

ANSWER TO QUESTION 2

Gof is not weary of Israel, His love and mercy is enduring over His people. He is patient and suffers long, He would never totally forsake them or abandon them into the hand of enemies.

For this reasons, after the saints might have been caught up, the Messiah will come from heaven to fight for Israel to be delivered.

The people of Israel would be gathered and restored as a nation.

The enemy nations will be judged for their evil acts against God’s people.

LIFE APPLICATION

God has not stopped to do new things each day concerning the predictions about Israel. There are new things in world news about the nation Israel. Recently, the news had it that Jerusalem has been recognised by the US as the capital of Israel. US embassy was moved to Jerusalem. However, there are so many problems Israel would face in the future to make her recognise and accept the Lordship of Jesus Christ as the Messiah when he appears the second time. So, God is allowing them to pass through these rigours for the fulfillment of the Scripture. We must see all these and be wise, for the end is already at the corner.

CONCLUSION

We thank God for the conclusion of lesson Ten. There is no nation of the world today that is as hated as the Israel nation. Yet God loves her and would deliver her from all afflictions. The scripture must be fulfilled. The nation of Israel is in God’s end time agenda. Therefore, we must be wise and be prepared, so that the end time does not catch us unawares.
