TOPIC: THE PROMISE

TEXT:ACTS 2:1-5

MEMORY VERSE: “And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me” (ACTS 1:4).

A promise is a pledge that is binding on the maker of the promise. It must be redeemed else it becomes frivolous. The promise of the power from on high was given to believers by the Lord who can never lie. He fulfills His promises to all who meet the conditions. Knowing that the work of global evangelization could not be done with human power and wisdom, the Lord Jesus commanded His disciples to tarry in Jerusalem for baptism in the power of the Holy Ghost.

About 120 of His disciples went up into an upper room praying for the dynamite from heaven. “And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind…And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance”.
Holy Ghost baptism is what you need to bring sinners to Christ in your school. The promise of the Holy Ghost is to all believers. Sanctification experience, consecration, thirst for and prayer of faith are what it takes to receive the gift.

QUOTE: The promise of the Holy Ghost is to all believers.

CHALLENGE: Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed?

PRAYER: Fill me with Your Spirit, Oh Lord.
