February 20, 2020 ECWA Food For TODAY Devotional :-  WHO ARE YOU, O MOUNTAIN? 3

THURSDAY, 20 FEBRUARY

TEXTS: 1 KINGS 18:21-40; MATTHEW 17:1-3

TOPIC: WHO ARE YOU, O MOUNTAIN? 3

On this final day of our series on mountains, we juxtapose two mountain encounters: Mount Carmel and Mount of Transfiguration. On Mount Carmel, Prophet Elijah, not in his might or power, defeated Baal and his prophets – the LORD fought the battle, Elijah was only an instrument.

On the Mountain of Transfiguration, Jesus was transfigured, with Moses and Elijah standing by Him. Evil was defeated on Mount Carmel and righteousness was instituted on the Mount of Transfiguration. Two mountain encounters, two different messages. Jesus, knowing what power there was on the mountain, often went there to pray.

Therefore, the mountain can be a place of defeat or a place of victory, depending on who goes there and why he goes there.

Where are you standing? Who are you standing with? Remember, your mountain can either be a place of victory or a place of defeat for you.

QUESTION: Are you weak enough to depend on God or are you strong enough to stand on your own?

PRAYER: Lead me to Victory Mountain. Let me stand there with You, Amen.
