HIGHER EVERYDAY
MONDAY FEBRUARY 3, 2020
TOPIC: AFFLICTIONS OF THE RIGHTEOUS
TEXT: PSALM 34:15-22
MEMORY VERSE: “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all” (PSALM 34:19).
A writer described the Caribbean Pines as wiry, primitive looking trees which thrive in rugged environments and can withstand prolonged periods of drought and fire. Planted in a cultured setting, they usually shrivel and die.
Joni Eareckson Tada says: “Like the Caribbean Pines, our souls usually don’t thrive during good times. Our hearts grow complacent, our need of God becomes less urgent, our hope of heaven dims, and our prayer life dries up…In a beautiful setting with our needs met and every resource at our fingertips…our soul shrivels…We need occasional blast of storm or fiery trial if our faith is to mature”. Yes, we need occasional fiery trials to boost our faith.
Our text does not promise a bed of roses for Christians, but assures divine deliverance from them all. As a Christian youth, be ready to face challenges in your faith journey. Determine to consecrate your life to God in every situation. Remain undaunted and uncompromising in your relationships, studies, examinations, social and spiritual life, and you will experience miracles in your afflictions.
QUOTE: You will experience miracles in your afflictions.
CHALLENGE: Be ready to face afflictions in your faith journey.
PRAYER: Help me Lord to wholly depend on you always.
