TOPIC: GOD’S PURPOSE FOR CHASTISING HIS PEOPLE
When God uses unbelievers to chastise His people, such unbelievers may include the likes of Boko Haram, Fulani jihadists and other radical Islamists. These are often aware that they are being used merely as tools in God’s hands for a certain purpose. The unbelievers consequently maltreat God’s people. That was the case when God used the enemies of Israel as instruments of of His chastisement.
While God’s purpose was to correct and bring His people to repentance, Judah’s enemies’ motive was very wicked. They humiliated Israel by selling their sons and daughters as cheap slaves and wanted to destroy Judah completely. For this, they too incurred the judgment of God.
No matter how severe, God’s purpose for chastising His people is to correct and restore them and never to destroy them. Therefore, those who maltreat God’s people would never go scot free.
QUESTION: Are you heeding the chastisement of God?_
PRAYER: Oh Lord, help me to take correction from Your chastisement and protect me from the wicked intention of the enemy to destroy me, in Jesus name, Amen._
