FAITH: BETWEEN THE MOUTH AND THE HEART

Read: Romans 10:8-13

Romans 10:8-13 But what does it say? The Word (God’s message in Christ) is near you, on your lips and in your heart; that is, the Word (the message, the basis and object) of faith which we preach,

Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation.

The Scripture says, No man who believes in Him [who adheres to, relies on, and trusts in Him] will [ever] be put to shame or be disappointed.

[No one] for there is no distinction between Jew and Greek. The same Lord is Lord over all [of us] and He generously bestows His riches upon all who call upon Him [in faith].

For everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord [invoking Him as Lord] will be saved.

MEMORISE:

The people answered, Far be it from us to forsake the Lord to serve other gods;b (Joshua 24:16)

EXPOSITION

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Heb. 11:1). Confession is the key point to know if a man has changed negative. That one is a Christian is never measured by his presence in the church auditorium, but by having confessed his sins with his mouth and believing in his heart that Jesus is Lord and Saviour. The heart is the engine room where words are processed while the mouth only speaks out what the heart gives to it. No one is also independent of the other.

So, to be saved, you have to first surrender your heart to God so it can process positively and forward good things to the mouth. Unless the heart is purged, dirty things can process from the mouth. Have you not heard people say “there is no God” or “it is man who is lord of himself”? Regardless of your age, position, years in the church, get cleaned up. Your heart and mouth and our mouth should not be closed to preaching the gospel of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. No one who say Jesus is Lord, if his or heart has not been touched by the Spirit of God. So, instead of rebuking those unbelievers, who messed up with our faith and people, let us pray that God will take over their hearts, while we continue purging our own hearts to dissolve all uncleanness. May God take over all of our beings in Jesus name.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord, circumcise my heart, once again so that I can always confess positively about You.

2. Lord, clean up our youths and children’s dirty hearts, so that they stop singing trash, to You in the name of music.

3. Oh Lord, redirect the heart of gospel ministers who preach worldliness to the peril of Your Church.
