ETERNAL BLESSINGS
Read: Ephesians 1:3-14
Ephesians 1:3-14 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
MEMORISE:
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul (Mark 8:36)
EXPOSITION
Eternal blessings are some kind of divine and supernatural aid, reward or good fortune for blessings of children of God. Apostle Paul emphasised that all blessing [spiritual and physical] come from God. They are utterly real. God brings them to us and applies them to our lives. There is nothing man can boast of in this world that has not been handed over to him from God Jam. 1:17.
Apostle Paul from our text for today’s dose of the Living Water blessed God for the eternal blessings He bestowed upon us. We received election and predestination as He chooses us before the foundation of the world. He made us holy and blameless before Him and accepts us through Christ Jesus. We have been redeemed through the unblemished blood of Christ in which we receive the forgiveness of our sins. And being marked for eternal inheritance with God and also sealed and set apart with the promised of Holy Spirit. Physical blessings are temporal and will fade away but eternal blessings have eternal/permanent values.
It is expedient for a child of God to desire and have the physical, material and financial blessings but if these eternal blessings are lacking, there is ultimate sorrow/loss for as many that have every other blessing without it. Pro. 10:22.
PRAYER POINTS
1. My soul, exalt God for all the benefits you receive from Him.
2. I will not lose my soul at the expense of all material gifts/blessings.
3. Holy Spirit divine, convict all that the pleasure of the world has swept away from faith, restore them Lord.
