FACING SEEMINGLY IMPOSSIBLE SITUATIONS IN LIFE
Read: Exodus 14:5-14
Exodus 14:5-14 And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?
And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him:
And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them.
And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand.
But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.
And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD.
And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?
Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.
And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
MEMORISE:
And Moses said to the people, ‘Do not be afraid. Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today…’ (Exodus 14:13)
EXPOSITION
Trusting God in hopeless situations and when bad things happen is one of the hardest things to do. However, let us examine some seemingly impossible situations in the Bible. The Israelites surviving the onslaught of the Egyptian army, with the Red Sea in their front, and Pharaoh and his choice chariots, with his captains pursuing them, from the back, seems impossible. The prospect of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego escaping in the midst of a burning fiery furnace cannot be imagined. (Daniel 3:15). That Daniel will not be consumed by the lions in the lion’s den seemed hard to belief. (Daniel 6:10ff)
The lesson from the three seemingly impossible situations described above is that we have to know that our God is able. That He has the power to deliver us and that He alone has the power to take over our situation and turn it around at any given moment. Do not allow any seemingly impossible situation to cause you to think for even one second that Your God is not able to deliver you.
Charles Spurgeon once said; “Now; beloved friends, if any of you are in great difficulty and trouble, tempted to do wrong, nay, pressed to do it, and if you do what is right, it looks as if you will be great losers and great sufferers; believe this: God can deliver you. He can prevent you having to suffer what you suppose you may..”
Be still (don’t complain or worry about the real enemy in front of you), because God will fight for you (Exodus 14:13-14), and God never losses a battle or a war.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, grant me the grace to trust You under seemingly impossible situations, in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, help me to remain calm and wait patiently for Your deliverance in times of difficult situations.
3. Holy Spirit, strengthen all believers facing seemingly impossible situations to be still and see Your salvation.
