TOPIC: THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT – 2

TEXT: GALATIANS 5:16-26

MEMORY VERSE: “Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law” (GALATIANS 5:23).

The fruit of the Spirit is said to be the characteristic nature of all who profess to be Christians. It is the trademark of heaven bound Christians. In this part 2 of our series on the fruit of the Spirit, we will be focusing on meekness and temperance.

Meekness, according to Merriam Webster’s dictionary, is “having or showing a quiet and gentle nature.” The Lord expects this nature from every Christian youth in schools, homes, or places of work. Christian youths should not be the fighting or noisy type.

Temperance is a moderation in action and thought; and involves abstinence from all things that appear inappropriate, such as: unhealthy competition, impatience, and emotional outburst. The world we live in today is full of pollutions and the Christian must be different. We must walk in the Spirit so we will not fulfil the desires of the flesh (Galatians 5:25).

How can you get these virtues? You can possess these virtues by giving your life to Christ as foundational step, and thereafter, by continual communion with God through prayer and the study of the Scriptures.

QUOTE: Walk in the Spirit.

CHALLENGE: What is your default character?

PRAYER: Oh God, make me meek.
