CLOUD THAT REFUSES TO RAIN

Read: Mark 11:21

Mark 11:21 And Peter remembered and said to Him, Master, look! The fig tree which You doomed has withered away!

MEMORISE:

But he replied to him, Leave it alone, sir, [just] this one more year, till I dig around it and put manure [on the soil]. (Luke 13:8).

EXPOSITION

It is expected that cloud will produce rain. It is natural, God created it to be so. Therefore, people are rejoiced, and glad at its formation. It is a sign of abundance, and ends drought. Cloud formation brings relief and consolation. It signifies an end to pains and sorrow. Every farmer rejoices at cloud formation, but when cloud refuses to produce rain, hope is dashed (Luke 13:6-8).

This was the experience of the gardener who tends the figs tree for years without any fruit on it. It took his valuable time and space and still produced nothing for the patient gardener. God will not tolerate non-productivity, or non-profitable. When the master of the servants will trade and profit with their talents—God’s expectation on all His children. What went wrong with one of them?

God’s expectations on you are enormous. He expect you to come to Him for relationship (Pro. 23:26). He commits to you the great commission — His heartbeat. How faithful are you? Are you productive with what He committed unto you? What is the level of your productivity? What is concrete term have you done for Him and for your world? Can you say He is happy with your production level? Do not receive God’s watering in vain (Heb. 6:7,8).

Elisha got double portion of Elijah, Gehazi was expected to get double of Elisha, but what did he get? He disappointed his family. He let down his generation and those that were looking up to him. He as well disappointed God who has heavily invested in him. Have you been enjoying God’s special treatment without giving anything in return? If so, respond to the gardener patient care and begin to bear the fruit God has created you to produce. AMP:But he replied to him, Leave it alone, sir, [just] this one more year, till I dig around it and put manure [on the soil]. Then perhaps it will bear fruit after this; but if not, you can cut it down and out. (Luke 13:8-9)

PRAYER POINTS

1. Pray that God will open your eyes to those areas of your life where you have been unproductive.

2. Ask God for the grace not to fail and disappoint in every area He puts you.

3. Pray that God will make you His mouth piece in order to brighten the corner where you are.
