TOPIC: THE FORGIVENESS FRAUD

BIBLE TEXT: Romans 6:1-7

MEMORY VERSE: What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound (Romans 6:1)?

Forgiveness is most appropriate when an offence committed by mistake or error is repented of and pardon sought. However, when you sin or offend willfully, believing you will seek forgiveness later, you may end up in hell and repentance may be too late. Today’s memory verse poses the question, “Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?” And the answer is, “God forbid.” When you offend someone, and your apology to the person is not from the heart, you are taking forgiveness for granted.

Hence Evang. Billy Graham said, “We make a mockery of forgiveness when we deliberately engage in sin because we think He will forgive it later.” God forgives all sinners who repent but will punish unrepentant sinners.

Can you now see that it is dangerous to sin thinking that God will always forgive your offence? If you steal, fornicate or get involved in occultism, you may become hardened and find it difficult to truly repent to attract God’s forgiveness or pardon. We must ask God to keep us from sin.

CHALLENGE: Do not make a mockery of forgiveness.

QUOTE: You may become hardened

PRAYER: Keep me from sin, Oh God!
