GRATEFUL OR GREAT FOOL?
Read: Luke 17:11-19
Luke 17:11-19 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.
And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:
And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.
And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,
And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.
And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.
MEMORISE:
Were there not, any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner? (Luke 17:18)
EXPOSITION
Once upon a time, there were two crippled who usually plied their “trade” of begging for alms at a particular busy location in the city. Having been in this for years, their economic condition still remained the same. There was a man, one day, who decided to change their situation for better. He bought two big loaves of bread. He sliced each loaf longitudinally into two halves and carefully packed new currency of huge amount there and sealed them up. On sighting the crippled, he reached each of them with a loaf and went on his way in his car.
One of the two men scarcely appreciated it! Then one of the men thought selling the bread would be a better idea because he needed money and not bread by then! The other one, having opened to eat the bread at close of ‘work’, was pleasantly surprised to see the package. This changed his life for better and he was never seen begging again. He looked for the man to appreciate him. The other man returned as usual for his begging, having sold his fortune off! The rich man again met him and was surprised to still find him begging “Why are you here again? Was that bread not enough for you…?” The man questioned. “… instead of you to give me some money, you only gave me a loaf of bread… I didn’t need your bread.. I sold it off…!” The crippled replied “… Oh you are a great fool and you may remain so for life.!” retorted the man.
Dear devout, the Holy Spirit wants you to be grateful by acknowledging what God has done for you. (1 Chr.16:34) Never charge Him, in anywhere, foolishly (Job.1:22). Look upward, look inward and look around. You will see that God has done so much for you. Be a grateful person to avoid becoming a great fool. (Lk.12:20). Stay lifted in Jesus’ name.
PRAYER POINTS
1. I refuse to be a great fool. Make me to always be grateful.
2. I receive the grace to be thankful to God in all things.
3. Help me oh God even to learn how to say thank you to all you have sent to me.
