A CHILD OR A SON?
Read: Galatians 4:1-7
Galatians 4:1-7 I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no different from a slave, though he is the owner of everything,
but he is under guardians and managers until the date set by his father.
In the same way we also, when we were children, were enslaved to the elementary principles of the world.
But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law,
To redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.
And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”
So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.

EXPOSITION
In Prophet Isaiah’s account of prophecy concerning Christ’s birth, he, according to King James version of The Bible documented: “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, ” (Isa.9:6), the scripture did not say the government shall rest on/upon the Child’s shoulder but upon The Son, despite it is the same Child that translates into becoming Son!
In the spiritual context, “Child” is synonymous with immaturity, incompetence, ignorance and lack of awareness of one’s legitimate rights in the Lord (Gal.4:2). No until a child becomes an adult, he can’t have access, control and dominance over his right and lawful inheritances.
Paul expressed it when he was a child, he behaved as one but when he became a man in the Lord, things had to change! (1 Cor.13:11) It is no crime to be born a child in Christ. In fact, this is normal. But it is worrisome to remain one. The babe (child) is tossed to and fro with every wave of doctrine but the mature remains stable because he is a grown-up (1 Cor. 14:20).
As new-borns desire and deserve breast milk of their mothers, newly born again individuals also need the elementary, basic and rudimental teaching about Christ (1 Pet.2:2). However, you must, after sometimes, be able to differentiate between your left and right. You must not be among those running from one ministry to another mountain and to another global church looking for what is not lost! Looking for miracles, signs and wonders, up-to-date packaging before believing is an indication that you are a baby in Christ. (Heb.5:13). When you become mature, you will know that signs and wonders automatically follow believers and but that the believers would be pursuing them on mountains, citadels, and valleys! May you become mature to the level of Christ’s expectation and measures in Jesus name. Amen.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, I refuse to be a dwarf! Help me to grow.
2. Lord, help the youth of this generation to be patient and mature in God’s hand before becoming GO/CEO.
3. Lord, create the hunger in your children to DESIRE growth.
