Topic: You are called to be a disciple of Jesus.
(Mark 16:15-18) He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people , and they will get well.
Most of the times when we hear about preaching the gospel to the unbelievers we usually attribute it to the pastors and evangelists. We will quickly take ourselves out of it and still we call ourselves Christians, followers of Christ.
Many of us do not understand that the moment we have been born again, we have become disciples of Jesus. After we are born again the duty of the discipleship is assigned to us automatically. We can pray and fast and pray and pray , asking God millions of things He has to do for us but will not think about what we have to do for Him.
Jesus came to the world for our salvation, He finished His work of redemption on the cross of Calvary, and handed the rest of the work for us to continue. If the disciples of old did not continue to preach the gospel me and you would not have been saved, but because they started preaching as Jesus commanded them we are able to receive the word of God.
So for us today in our own time how are we obeying that great commission of our savior Jesus Christ?
Have you been saved? Are you a believer? If you answered yes on these questions, then you have responsibilities, to serve in the vineyard of God. If you do not know where to start , start from your family. There must be someone in your family who has not heard the gospel, talk to them. Tell them the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The early disciples started with their friends, some started with their family members, some started from their villages.
John 1: 43-45. The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Phillip and said to him “Follow me” . Now Phillip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. Phillip found Nathanael and said to him, we have found him of whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. See how Nathanael was called he instantly started preaching Jesus to Phillip. If you have had an encounter with Jesus you must begin to testify of Him immediately. You cannot keep quiet am telling you. Preaching of the gospel is the heart beat of Jesus, we have to at this end time take it seriously if we are willing to carry the cross.
No wonder Paul said in (Romans 1:14-16) I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome. For i am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentiles. Paul took it as an obligation to preach the gospel, dear friend can you take it as an obligation today to share the word of God to the perishing world?
Some of us are very ashamed to testify about our faith to others because of how they will feel about us. We are afraid they might start making jokes of our faith. If you are a friend to Joe Biden or his child will you not be bold to make your father known to people,? will you not be proud to answer his friend? Now you are a child of the most high God , the creator of the president but you are hiding your identity? Is either you have not have an encounter with Jesus or you don’t know your responsibility as a disciple of Jesus.
For us to share the gospel of our Lord Jesus is non negotiable, it is something we must do to please God. You have been saved , pray and preach to others to be saved. Today you can start from your home, your street, your community, those on your WhatsApp contact instead of sending ajasko dance to them send Text to them and tell them that Jesus loves them , died for them and is coming soon.
( Matthew 10:32) Therefore whoever confesses me before men, him I will also confess before my my Father who is in heaven.
If you are not telling people about the Jesus the son of God , He will not mention your name before His Heavenly Father.
Let us develop the heart that desires to win souls for Christ. The world is perishing, we have to hasten up to pray and lead people to Christ . He is counting on us to evangelize to the perishing world.
Don’t say you are not a pastor, or evangelist. If you have been saved you are a disciple. But if you have not been saved. This is a very great opportunity to surrender your life to Jesus and allow Him into your life . Tomorrow may not come, life is a vapor. God bless you and grant us mercy to carry on the great commission in Jesus name.
Prayer: Thank you Jesus the lover of my soul, for saving me. Please use me to reach out to people with the gospel of our savior Jesus Christ. In Jesus name. Amen 🙏🏼
