THE RIVERS OF GOD
Read: Genesis 2:10-14
Genesis 2:10-14 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.
The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;
And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.
And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.
And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.
MEMORISE:
He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither (Psalms 1:3).
EXPOSITION
A river is a natural stream of water of considerable volume. Rivers carry massive amounts of water. Rivers of God denotes that the divine resources are inexhaustible. The River of God originates from God Himself. It flows through our Lord Jesus Christ to us, and through us to the nations of the earth.
There is a tremendous positive impact when the river of God flows. The great Prophet Ezekiel saw a vision of that River. Wherever and whatever it touches, receives life (Ezek. 47:5-9). Precisely, Ezekiel 47:9 says, ‘And it shall be that every living thing that moves, wherever the river goes, will live. There will be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters go there; for they will be healed, and everything will live wherever the river goes’. There is abundant satisfaction; pleasure and channel blessings open wherever the river of God flows.
The rivers with which the Garden was watered in our text for today contributed much, both to the pleasantness and the fruitfulness of the Garden. The rivers of God enrich the earth, which without it would quickly result in poor products. God waters the earth for its fruitfulness. Of course, but for the presence and power of sustenance of the Lord on earth, it would have ceased to exist. He created the earth and continues to sustain it. There is no water in a dry and barren land. Today, the world celebrates the Wetlands Day. No one desires dryness. A wetland is a marsh, swamp, or other area of land where the soil near the surface is saturated or covered with water, especially one that forms a habitat for wildlife.
Brethren, where are you experiencing dryness? Call upon the God of Creation to send His life-giving rivers into that area of your life so that it will bring abundant increase, flourish and fruitfulness. God is set to water your life, home, marriage, career, business, and ministry this season as you call upon Him in faith.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Father, send Your river to water my life for freshness and abundance always.
2. Lord, let Your river water the seeds that are being sown through Your Word as Your ministers stand to declare Your counsel everyvwhere.
3. Lord, water the works of the missionaries in their various fields so that their labours will bring glory to Your name.
