THE LAW OF KARMA.
Read Judges 1:1-8
MEMORISE: And Adoni Bezek said, ” Seventy Kings with their thumbs and big toed cut off used to gather scraps under my table; as I have done, so God has repaid me.” Then they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died (Judges 1:7).
EXPOSITION
Jesus challenges us to do to others what we would want done to us (Matt. 7:12). There is no law greater than this; it is The Golden Rule. Of course, today is the World Day of Social Justice. This is the only way to achieve true social justice. Had this rule been kept, what a wonderful world this would have been. If you don’t like being cheated, why cheating others?.
King Adoni Bezek of Salem was a powerful king notorious for disabling monarchs like himself by cutting off their thumbs and toes! To his infamous credit, his exploits numbered up to 70 victims, taking them through untold hardship, what should be called slow death. 70 Kings he had traumatized and killed, while God was giving him a long rope to pull. (cf. 1 Pet. 3:9). What eventually became of the wicked king? Is an attestation to the fairness, equity, and justice of Almighty God (Isaiah 56:1).
The law of Karma, better put retributive law should make one think twice before doing evil to any other person. Many parents have already battered the future of their children by what they have done to other’s children! Would you be able to comfortably say ‘Amen’ when ask God repay you in your own coins as to your attitude to others?.
When you should fear is that the measure of the reward/retribution would surely be geometric for every good or evil done. We all would stand before God for the reward/retribution of what we do here and now (2 Cor. 5:10), and more interesting is the fact that For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you (Lk. 6:38). It is better to do good when it is due, for God gives its due at the time allotted, says a proverb!.
Do not be deceived (by prophecies, fasting and prayer) whatsoever a man sows that he will reap. What do you want to reap? SOW in advance (Gal. 6:7).
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, assist me to sow a good seed that I would rejoice receiving the reward, immediately and ultimately.
2. God who rewarded Naomi and Ruth for what they sowed into one another’s life, please help me to be wise.
3. God who reward Phinehas, please help me to be wise.
