COMPLETE HEALING

Read: Isaiah 53:1-5

Isaiah 53:1-5 Who has believed what he has heard from us? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?

For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him.

He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.

But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.

MEMORISE:

But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5)

EXPOSITION

One of the old fables or folktales was about a woman whose only son was not only deaf, but also blind. What a calamity! One day, as she was cooking at the back of the house without the assistance of his disabled son, she heard a dove fly inside the room where the disabled child laid on the mat. On running inside, the dove kindly begged the woman to save it from the hawk hunting it, promising to give her medicine to cure her boy’s deafness. The hawk was already outside and was also pleading with the same woman to please release the dove to it, for food, with the promise to give her medicine to cure the boy’s blindness! The woman was in dilemma. “To hear or see?” she thought. At once, she decided to give the hawk two fat chickens and the latter happily gave her the medicine bto cure the boys blindness as promised. The dove was also released after the hawk had left and it fulfilled its promised to the woman. So, the boy was able to hear and see again. What a wise woman!

The Holy Spirit is admonishing users of today’s dose of the Living Water to seek only Jesus Christ, Who has complete and all-encompassing healing. The Saviour does not only heal physical wounds, He also heals the spiritual and offers us Salvation, most importantly. As He offers salvation  primarily, He also offers fulfilments in all aspects of life (Jn.10:10). Jesus Christ would not give you incomplete blessings, neither do His blessings come with any form of sorrow or adversity (Prov.10:22). Come to think of the fable, what if the healing is upturned? Christ never does that. When He heals. Delivers, redeems, etc., He does them permanently and irrevocably (Rom.11:29). How sweet it is to truly seek Him!
