Title: Walk Closer With Jesus
Luke 24:13-35: Behold two of them were traveling that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was seven miles from Jerusalem, and they talked together of all these things which had happened. As they were talking and walking Jesus joined them . Jesus asked them , what kind of conversation is this that you have with one another as you walk and are sad? Then Cleopas answered and said to Him,. Are you the only stranger in Jerusalem who has not heard about what happened there in these days? And He asked them what things? So they said to Him, the things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet mighty indeed and word before God and all the people.
They continue to narrate the story of how Jesus was crucified and was buried without knowing it was Jesus Himself that was walking with them. They were very serious with their walk and trying to interpret the events about the death of Christ. I could perceive their intents , they were trying to make sense out of the situation but could not experience His presence. We are like that today in our present world.
We look for Him every where, we call different men of God to pray for us, some of us even go to the extent of paying for holy water and anointing oil so we can use them to experience the power of God. Christ is with us at all times but we do not recognize His presence around us. If we cannot recognize His presence how can we know Him and how can we tell others about Him?
When Jesus joined them He interpreted the significance of the events to them. He continues to tell us the significance of His death and resurrection but we are still not paying heed . It is time we understand the importance of walking with Jesus and recognizing His presence in our walk with Him. Going to church every Sunday is not enough to help us to recognize His presence, having a confirmation or receiving holy communion is not enough either.
It is a spiritual pilgrimage, as we walk with Him intimately our spiritual eyes will be opened for us to behold His power and glory, and that will come with the manifestation of the Holy Spirit and confirmation. When we take a closer walk with Jesus is when we will feel His power and His goodness. Our life will not remain the same and we will stand on the ground to testify to others.
How do we walk closer with Him,? we cannot know Jesus if we are not grounded in His word, and praying fervently . John 1:1-5. In the beginning was the word and the word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. The character of God is made manifest in His word . Without been deeply rooted in His word we cannot walk well with Jesus. As we are walking with Him I pray He will reveal more of Himself to us in Jesus Mighty name.
Prayers: God Almighty, please help me to recognize your presence in my Life in Jesus name. Anything that is hindering me from seeing you clearly please Lord let the Holy Ghost fire consume it in Jesus name. Give me wisdom and discernment, help me to hunger for righteousness in Jesus name. Let your Holy Spirit be my guide all the days of my life in Jesus Mighty name I pray. Amen!! Have a blessed weekend.
