Title:The Power of Faith
(Mark 10:46-52) And they came to Jericho. And as He was leaving Jericho with His disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the road side. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus son of David, have mercy on me!” And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” And Jesus stopped and said, “call him”.
And they called the blind man saying to him”Take heart. Get up; he is calling you. And throwing of his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus. And Jesus said to him. “WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO FOR YOU?” And the blind man said to Him, Rabbi, let me recover my sight. And Jesus said to him “GO YOUR FAITH HAS MADE YOU WELL. And immediately he recovered his sight and followed Him on the way.
This was the story of a blind man who heard that Jesus was passing by from the city of Jericho. This man moved with faith and decided to seek Jesus , he did not want to miss that opportunity because he might not see that opportunity again in his life time if he should miss this one. He felt that he needed personal encounter with this man Jesus. Remember that this man had the biggest disability, with blindness he relied on people to walk around, he relied on people for almost every activity you can think of. But he did not allow his limitations to stop him from meeting Jesus.
He could have stay there and tell people to reach Jesus for Him. No he did not do that. He used his own mouth to call on Jesus to have mercy on him.
I like this man’s intent , he did not rely on men to call Jesus for him.Even when people asked him to be quiet, he persisted in calling Jesus, he did not care about how people felt, he demonstrated faith, and called Jesus for mercy. The Bible says that Jesus called for him , Jesus suspended every other activities for that moment and attended to the blind man, and asked him the reason for his call. He told Jesus he wanted to recover his sight and , Jesus had mercy and healed him.
Child of God, may be you are like this blind man today. You have various challenges of life. People had mislabeled you , mistreated you, your disability or your challenges have taken your name. Like the blind man, people call you different names, nobody cares to help you? You have no one to support you? All you need is personal encounter with Jesus. Don’t allow any discouragement of the enemy to make you miss Jesus.
Jesus is passing by today, come and have personal encounter with Him today. You cannot call on Him, if you don’t come close to the road to Jericho. if the blind man did not come to the road he would have missed the opportunity. Matthew (18:20 ) where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am with them. Find time to fellowship with children of God, find time to pray, find time to read your Bible. The same Jesus that touched the blind man will touch you today with mercy and your life will not remain the same in a Jesus name.
You need the mercy of God to receive supernatural encounter. You need the mercy of God to live In this wicked world. We need the mercy of God to face the trials and tribulations of this life. But we must position ourselves into a proper place where we can see Him passing by, so we can have personal encounter. The blind man removed his cloak before going to Jesus. Call on Him today and remove anything that will cause a stumbling blocks, the mercy of God will locate you in Jesus name.
Prayer: Jesus please have mercy on me. By your mercy Lord deliver me in Jesus name. Let your mercy locate me today in Jesus name. Jesus I need you, like you touched the blind man , please come and do something new in my life today in Jesus name.
