CAN GOD BOAST OF YOU?

Read: Job 2:1-7

Job 2:1-7  Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.

And the LORD said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.

And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.

But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.

So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.

MEMORISE:

And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying “This is my beloved Son, in whom l am well pleased (Matthew 3:17)

EXPOSITION

Every parent looks when their children are doing very well. They want their friends and acquaintances to grace the graduation, wedding, convocation, matriculation, of their children to show how proud their wards have made them. Those parents who have nothing but bitter experiences to share about their children, God will intervene in their matters and their situations will improve for the better in Jesus’ name. Even when the situation has arisen as a result of the carelessness of the parents, God the unchangeable changer will still prevail and straighten the crookedness in their lives in Jesus’ name. So don’t give up.

God was proud of Job and boasted about him before Satan, who had fallen but still appeared before God once in awhile. Satan had disappointed God and there is no way he could have made God proud by his pride-filled lifestyle. In fact, he is billed for eternal destruction. If one person decides to let God down, there are many people out there who would make Him proud. God always has another, seven thousand (1 kings 19:18), and even stones as replacements. Job made himself available to do God proud, where the devil failed for pride.

Have you considered my servant Job…?, is a deliberate question to provoke Satan to jealous. As a matter of fact, that was not part of the agenda of the meeting that day. However, God brought it out to make the devil feel ashamed of himself, and to realise the gravity of what he has missed. He missed his position as Lucifer, the morning star, and the relationship as one of the Cherubims (Ezekiel 28:14). He also missed the blissfulness of God’s kingdom. You will not mess up in Jesus’ name. You can decide either to do God proud or let Him down. When you do Him Proud He proves Himself beyond imagination in your life. Allow God to be proud of you like Job and His beloved son, Jesus Christ today.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Where my strength is failing, strengthen me by Your grace, Lord my God.

2. Help me not to disappoint You whenever You want to prove Your grace and power in my life.

3. Those leaders of God’s people, who are already wounded and weary, Lord make them stand and continue where they are failing and falling in Jesus’ name.
