(KINGDOM OF GOD FAMILY)
THEME: CHILDREN AND THE PERILOUS TIME
UPPER ELEMENTARY
LESSON ELEVEN
June 13 & 20, 2021
TOPIC: JESUS RESPONDS TO PERSEVERING FAITH
TEXT: MARK 2:1-12
MEMORY VERSE: God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power; how he went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with him – Acts 10:38 (RSV)
LESSON OBJECTIVES: At the end of this lesson, students should have seen that it is good to persist in faith and be ready to attain their desired heights, no matter the obstacles.
INTRODUCTION
In this new lesson, we see Jesus rewarding the faith of certain friends who were in search of healing for their sick friends. They did not allow obstacles to deny them their desires; they pressed on until they achieved their desire. You must be ready to pull down obstacles for you to get your faith rewarded.
WEEK ONE: THE SICK MAN AND HIS FRIENDS
June 13, 2021
While Jesus was teaching about God, many people gathered in the house where Jesus was. Soon people crowded outside the door. Outside the house were four men who brought their friend who could not walk. The men wanted to get their friend inside to see Jesus. They tried to push through the crowd but could not get to the door. The four men picked up the sick friend’s mat (bed), and carried him up the steps to the roof of the house, dug a large hole in the roof. Carefully, they lowered their friend down through the hole until his mat touched the floor and he was right in front of Jesus.
LESSONS
1. The four men recognized their friend’s need; we must be sensitive to the need of people around us.
2. They got involved with him; we must identify with people who are in need.
3. They had faith that Jesus could help us in our time of need.
4. They were not discouraged by difficulty; we must have a faith that sees beyond difficulty.
WEEK TWO: JESUS HEALS THE SICK MAN
June 20, 2021
Jesus marvelled at the exercise of faith from these wonderful friends of the sick. He commanded the sick friend to get up, take his mat and go home. The man got up, took his mat and walked. Jesus had made the man well. The people who saw the man walk could hardly believe it. They said, “We have never seen anything like this!” The people thanked God for what they had seen.
LESSONS
1. Jesus acted when He saw the faith of the four men and their friend’s. He would act on your affairs when you demonstrate your faith in Him.
2. Jesus frees from the penalty and guilty of sins; just confess and forsake your sins.
3. Jesus helps those in need; He will help you if you cry to Him in prayer.
QUESTIONS
1. What did Jesus tell the sick man?
2. How should we handle obstacles in the way of our progress and success?
3. What should be our attitude to the people in need?
PRAYER: No matter the obstacles the devil may put on my way, I will persevere in faith, until I achieve my goal; so help me God. Amen.

PRE-ELEMENTARY
LESSON ELEVEN
June 13 & 20, 2021
TOPIC: JESUS RESPONDS TO PERSEVERING FAITH
TEXT: MARK 2:1-12
We see in this lesson that it is good to continue to have faith in God that no matter what happens, He will answer our prayers. Nothing should stop us from having full assurance in God so that we can get anything we want if we have faith in God. We must be ready to fight and win anything that wants to stop us.
Four people carried their friends who was sick and could not not walk, to a house where Jesus was preaching, so that He could heal him. But there were too many people and they could not get to where Jesus was. Therefore, they climbed up the house and made a hole in the roof of the house from where they lowered their friend to the front of Jesus. They did this because they believed that Jesus can do all things. Jesus was surprised at the faith of these four caring friends, and He quickly healed the sick man and also forgave his sins. The people who saw it thanked God because of this great miracle.
MEMORY VERSE: You know about Jesus of Nazareth and how God poured out on him the Holy Spirit and power. He went everywhere, doing good and healing all who were under the power of the Devil, for God was with him – Acts 10:38 (GNB)
PRAYER: Lord I trust you; don’t let anything stop me from trusting You, so that I can get whatever I want from You.
