LESSON TEN
May 30 & June 6, 2021
TOPIC: PERILS AGAINST PHARAOH
TEXT: EXODUS 12:29-30
MEMORY VERSE: And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where one was not dead – Exodus 12:30 (RSV).
LESSON OBJECTIVES: At the end of this lesson, students should be able to know that no one is able to fight battle with the Lord.
INTRODUCTION Sing the song: Who can battle with the Lord? (3 times)! Say: no-b-o-d-y.
Pharaoh had experienced diverse forms of perils for refusing to release the Israelites to go and worship God. His hard-heartedness took him to this last peril which took him and his people to this stage. For you to learn from this story, please concentrate and follow the lesson well.
FIRST WEEK: AT MIDNIGHT, THE LORD SMITES THE EGYPTIANS’ FIRST BORN (Exodus 11:29)

God will announce the next peril for Pharaoh before it comes; but Pharaoh would always be hardened in heart. Whatever be Pharaoh’s stand on the issue, every first-born child of the Egyptians died. But the Israelites’ stand on the issue, every first-born child of the Egyptians died. But the Israelites’ children were spared, because the blood had been smeared on their door frames. So begins the story of redemption, the central theme of the Bible.
Pharaoh and his people could not hold their tears as it was their first born – no house that was not affected. Every home, from the top to the least was involved in weeping for their departed. Even their animals and all that were connected to them. Stubbornness to God is not good. If Pharaoh had not been too hard, it may not have been this way, but because God had to glorify Himself over Pharaoh and his men, God helped his stubbornness and achieved His purpose.
LESSONS:
1. Pharaoh never knew his fight with God and His people will advance to this stage.
2. The more tough he thought he was, the more God was, with him.
3. At the end, he could not bear it. In the middle of the night, he was rewarded with the death of all firstborn.
4. No one can battle with the Lord.
SECOND WEEK: THERE IS A GREAT CRY IN EGYPT AND THE ISRAELITES OBTAIN FREEDOM (Exodus 12:30)

As Pharaoh and the Egyptians were crying for the loss of their beloved ones, the Israelites had no reason for cry; because they obeyed God by doing what Moses told them to do – not a single soul was missing from among them. The message of redemption was given to them, and they obeyed. Having obeyed, the price of not losing anyone to death was paid. Instead, of having to cry with them, they were sent out of Egypt in a hurry.
LESSONS
1. Obedience to God brings peace in the physical and in the spiritual.
2. While the Egyptians were burying their dead, the Israelites were being delivered from slavery. They moved freely without the control of man.
3. The Israelites saw God in a different way from the way the Egyptians saw Him.
4. Indeed no man can battle with the Lord.
5. Pride and stubbornness caused Pharaoh his perils.
QUESTIONS
1. How did Pharaoh respond to Moses and Aaron when he was first approached to release the Israelites?

LESSON OBJECTIVES: At the end of this lesson, pupils should be able to know that no one is able to fight battle the Lord.
Pharaoh, his people and all their animals lost the lives of their born sons because of Pharaoh’s stubbornness: you must fear God
INTRODUCTION
Review the last lesson. Sing the song: Who can battle with the Lord? (3times) I say: No b-o-d-y. It is not good to be stubborn or hard-hearted. Pharaoh, the president of Egypt, was very stubborn; whenever Moses and Aaron went to warn him and to charge him to release the Israelites from slavery, he would always refuse, until God dealt with him a way that touched him to his marrows. Make sure you are in class and be committed. Make sure you are in class and be committed to learn more about Pharaoh’s peril.
FIRST WEEK: AT MIDNIGHT, THE LORD SMITES THE EGYPTIANS’ FIRST SONS –Exodus 12:29
As Pharaoh continued to be tough with God, he would be told what he should expect next; God was determined to promote His glory through His action, or relationship with Pharaoh. Until this time of the events, God remained to be God. Moses had told the Israelites and obeyed God too. At midnight, the Lord killed all the firstborn sons in Egypt from king’s son, who was heir to the throne to the first born of the animals were also killed. But all the children of the Israelites were spared because the blood had been smeared on their door frames.
Pharaoh and his people could not hold their tears and no one could comfort the other as no house was left untouched by the loss of first-born sons. It was a terrible day! Truly, nobody can fight against God.
LESSONS
1. Pharaoh never knew his fight against God and His people will reach this stage.
2. The more tough he (Pharaoh) though he was, the more God was, with him
3. At the end, he could not bear it. In the midnight, he was awarded with the death of all first-born sons
4. No one can battle against the Lord.
SECOND WEEK: THAT NIGHT, THE KING, HIS OFFICIALS, AND ALL THE OTHER OFFICERS ARE DEALT WITH – Exodus 11:30

That night, the king, his officials, and all other Egyptians were awakened. There was loud crying through Egypt, because there was not a home in which there was not a dead son. The Israelites had no reason to cry with them as no single soul was missing from among them. They had obeyed God through Moses and everyone was alive. While the Egyptians were busy burying the dead, the Israelites were busy marching out into freedom. It pays to obey God than to stubbornly disobey Him. No one can battle against the Lord and win.
LESSONS

TOPIC: PHARAOH IN TROUBLE
TEXT: EXODUS 12:29-30
Review the last lesson. Ask questions that you may have confirm their understanding.
Pharaoh was the president of Egypt. After the death of Joseph, was another pharaoh who did not know the good works of Joseph and the Israelites. The Israelites became oppressed. God sent Moses and Aaron to deliver them. But pharaoh and his men would not allow them to go. God used various kinds of perils, not only to warn them, but to show His greatness to the people. Pharaoh hardened his heart and would not let them go. At the end, God warned Pharaoh that all first born sons would die and He instructed Moses to tell the Israelites about the Passover they should do, the same night.
In obedience, they did as they were commanded. The angel of death passed over them, and in every home in Egypt was the death of their first born sons. As the Egyptians woke up in the middle of the night and discovered that death has occurred in their homes, there was loud crying throughout Egypt, from the palace, even the king’s son who would have been the hair to the throne died. All the first born of the animals were also killed.
What the king had delayed to do, quickly, he sent for Moses and Aaron. He instructed them to leave his country and go out to worship their God. The Israelites were set free from slavery; the Egyptian started burying their dead while the Israelites began their journey. It is not good to fight with God.
