HAD ELIJAH NOT OBEYED…

Read I Kings 17:1-6

MEMORISE: So he went and did according to the words of Lord, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan (I Kings 17:5).

EXPOSITION

God had declared His verdict on Ahab’s tending towards adopting Baal as a national deity alongside Yahweh, or a local fertility deity. There would be drought in the land in the next few years to neutralize and put to shame the supposed Canaanite god of storms and fertility (I Kings 17:1). The effect on both human and non-human elements in the land was obviously devastating, as the absence of dew would have drastically cut down the productivity of their vineyards and trees during the dry summer months, hence the hunger/famine that ensued. What would then become of the man of God who was divinely inspired to declare the verdict? What was he thinking? Was he going to run away or stay back to suffer with the godless people?

God had the best for him, just like He has for you, today. He gave him the way out, but faith in, and obedience to Him were keys to unlocked His ready-made provisions. Elijah was to relocate. Until you relocate to your God-prepared location, your divine allocation cannot locate you. There is somewhere God wants you. Regardless of whether it looks like a ravine or a wilderness, would you be ready to go?(CACGHB 809).

Thank God, Elijah immediately did what God had told him. Result: He was fully taken care of, amidst lack. Just image that he didn’t move to the God -described place. What would have happened? Obedience is the key that would unlocked every good and perfect thing God has in store for you. Trust and obey Him!.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. You spirit of disobedience/rebellion, out of my life, in Jesus’name.

2. Lord, direct my Ravens to supply my needs; I am relocating to my God-ordained location.

3. Pray that God should help missionaries who are about going on attribution to rediscover their commission and become more dedicated to such regardless of their trying situations.

EXTRA READING FOR TODAY: I Chr. 10:12 – 12:13; John 18:34 – 19:15.
