THE IMPACT OF CHARACTER (2)

Read Philippians 4:5 – 9

MEMORISE: Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever thing are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy meditate on these things (Philippians 4:8).

EXPOSITION

A man’s attitudes determines his attitude in life. This implies that one’s upward movement or decline in life is a product of one’s character. Another word for character is attitude. Character refers to the mental and moral quality distinctive to an  individual. It is what a person consciously and unconsciously displays to express him/her at all point in time that makes the person different from others.

If letters A -Z are arranged numerically, ATTITUDE has the following figures respectively: A-1, T – 20, T – 20, I – 9, T – 20, U – 21, D – 4, E – 5. When these numbers are summed up, it gives 100. This is just a way to show that a  man’s life is a sum total of his character. As believers, God expects us to put on godly character that will show forth His glory. This is the import of Matthew 5:16: Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Below are some facts about the impact of character in a man’s life.

1. Character has the power to open or close doors of favour.

2. Character can determine your promotion of demotion

3. Character is reflected in how you treat others.

4. You are a picture of your character.

CEOs are not just men of intelligence, but men of character. A man’s labour and qualification can take him up, but a bad character will bring him down (cf. Prov. 23:1). Once again, take care of your character and your reputation will take care of itself. Build a goodly and godly name in the Lord (Prov. 22:1). That is the legacy God expects you to leave behind for the upcoming generations. Don’t fail Him!.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. I receive the grace to maintain a godly integrity, in Jesus’name.

2. I will not be a disappointment to God by my character, in Jesus’name.

3. Let us pray for our leaders, ministers, and parents to be worthy examples to the young ones.
