ALL SINS ARE EQUAL.
Read 1 Samuel 25:10-23
MEMORISE: For rebellion is as sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry… (I Samuel 15:23a).
One of the greatest deceptions of this generation is trying to rank sins. Some sins are considered more grievous than the others. However, through different crimes carry different penalties in the Constitutions of nations, there is only a uniform penalty for all sins in God’s reckoning – death! This is should make all of us to be more careful with the way we live. People are so much interested in judging others because of their supposed “great” sins, while neglecting theirs that they think are pardonable. Error!
In today’s text, we see King Saul being rebuked by Samuel for not carrying out God’s instruction to letter. He obeyed God, but partially. God’s assessment of him was that his rebellion and stubbornness were as sinful as witchcraft, iniquity and idolatry. Just as God hates idolatry, fornication, adultery, heresies, etc., He detest disobedience, lying, hypocrisy, envy, jealously, wrath, etc.
In Revelation 21:8, God says, _*But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. How have you been rating being cowardly (fearing to stand for the Truth) or lying, before now? Do you know they are as weighty as sorcery, sexual immorality and idolatry? Stop grading sins.
It is high time you were more prayerful and watchful as regards your character and conduct. On this World Population Day, it has to dawn on us that God is no respecter of any person. He Judges individuals in His unquestionable justice and fairness. As the unrepentant witches, armed robbers, murderers, assassins, etc., stand the risk of hell, so do all liars, backbiters, gossipers petty thieves, and the unfaithful to God’s work. God is never biased. His yardstick is the same measure with the poor, rich, black, white, high, or low. There is only one hell, so God’s kingdom. Graduate sins no more!
1. Lord, help me to see sin (wickedness) the way You see it.
2. Holy Spirit, deliver me totally from sins that beset me (mention them to God)
3. Lord, render powerless theologies and teachings that miltigate the way God sees sin, and its unbearable consequences.
