IF YOUR SPIRITUAL PARENTS AREN’T AROUND.

Read: Exodus 32: 21-24

MEMORISE :

For they said to me, Make us gods which shall go before us; as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him. (Exodus 32:23)

EXPOSITION

Someone said, “it is leadership irresponsibility for a leader to excuse his failure on what his followers did or did not”. King Saul made a silly mistake when he tried to shift the blame of his disobedience on his subjects. Just imagine when he was challenged on why he would do such a thing, he said, *AMP:Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites; for the people spared the best of the sheep and oxen to sacrifice to the Lord your God, but the rest we have utterly destroyed. (1 Samuel 15:15) Arrant irresponsibility!

Something similar had happened to Aaron in Exodus 32. He was compelled by the people to create another god for them when Moses seemingly took to long to return. When asked why he misbehaved, out textual source shows how he tried to blame the people for his ineptitude. How could such a man who had So walked with Moses misbehaved so painfully?

Obviously, Aaron was only mechanically following God’s instructions through Moses. No wonder he could not hold the forth when the latter was away. He didn’t own God Himself. He was only serving the God of Moses. Dearly beloved, just think deeply: Are you sure you won’t misbehave or apostatise, if your father/mother in the Lord or mentor isn’t around?

Secondly, it is weak people who look for alternatives. Strong people stick with the Lord alone regardless of the situation. Aaron was obviously very weak in the faith despite having been ordained the high priest. Your position/title in church doesn’t show your level of relationship with God. Aaron’s spiritual weakness that made him unable to stand on his feet for the LORD caused the people and himself disaster. How long can you solidly hold the forth against the onslaught of the Devil and his temptations when your pastor, parents, fellowship leaders, mentors, etc. aren’t around to help encourage you? Personally identify and acknowledge the Lord. That is the way out!

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord help me to hold the forth against the devil and his temptations, regardless of whether I am alone or not.

2. Holy Spirit, make me strong in You, so that I do not keep rising and falling in my Christian journey.

3. Pray for our children who are on campuses, that God should help them to stand for Him regardless of whether their parents are there or not.
