JESUS MIGHTY POWER

Read: Matthew 14:22-33

Matthew 14:22-33 Then He directed the disciples to get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent away the crowds.

And after He had dismissed the multitudes, He went up into the hills by Himself to pray. When it was evening, He was still there alone.

But the boat was by this time out on the sea, many furlongs [a furlong is one-eighth of a mile] distant from the land, beaten and tossed by the waves, for the wind was against them.

And in the fourth watch [between 3:00—6:00 a.m.] of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea.

And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified and said, It is a ghost! And they screamed out with fright.

But instantly He spoke to them, saying, Take courage! I Am! Stop being afraid!

And Peter answered Him, Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.

He said, Come! So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water, and he came toward Jesus.

But when he perceived and felt the strong wind, he was frightened, and as he began to sink, he cried out, Lord, save me [from death]!

Instantly Jesus reached out His hand and caught and held him, saying to him, O you of little faith, why did you doubt?

And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.

And those in the boat knelt and worshiped Him, saying, Truly You are the Son of God!

MEMORISE:

And in the fourth watch [between 3:00—6:00 a.m.] of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea. (Matthew 14:25)

EXPOSITION

A seasoned minister of the Gospel, Gordon Lindsay (1906-1973), prophesied thus: Does it look like a small thing to you that God should give to man The Power of Ascension for the blessing and glory of His saints? And for them to use to confront the powers of darkness and the various unavoidable challenges of their time that they may/will encounter in the Christian race? This power will help them to overcome ONLY if received, taken and used appropriately. How they use this power also will/shall be seen and known in their lives and time and ministries whether they are overcomes or they will be overcomed. Prepare therefore to be an overcomer, for that is the secret of my own sons.

There was once a serious threat to the existence of Jesus disciples; and indirectly, a challenge to the authority and lordship of the LORD. In the darkest hour of that trial, the Lord Jesus Christ was seen walking on the same sea of their trouble! A sure sign that He is ever on top of every situation! This He has proven severally before and after this particular incident. Firstly, in a most critical time of His; by fighting, overcoming, and putting Satan to fight by the Word of God (Matt 4v1-11). Secondly, in the Synagogue; He walked through the midst of His attempted killer unharmed (Lk.4:29,30)! Thirdly, while asleep in a boat during a deadly storm; there He arose and rebuked the storm (Lk.8:22-25).

Jesus earlier asserts that none can take His life from Him. He has the unquestionable power to lay it down and take it back. This He did perfectly she He rose from the dead, confounding even the best of military guards (Maty.28v1-4). Furthermore, He entered through the walls of the “hidding place” of His fear-gripped disciples after His resurrection (Jn.20v19).

The dangers of our time are real and we must be protected all round, especially if we are to fulfil the Great Commission to reach ALL the world with the Gospel. Receive The Power of ASCENSION today, in Jesus name. Amen.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, thank You for the end-time blessings and glory You have prepared for us.

2. We receive the power of ASCENSION and Your total protection over all the dangers of our time, in the name of Jesus.

3. We rise above the Devil and all his wicked hosts, on the wings of our resurrected Lord, in the name of Jesus.
