BUILD YOUR CONFIDENCE

Read: 1 John 3:20-24

1 John 3:20-24  For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

MEMORISE:

Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God (1 John 3:21)

EXPOSITION

The bedrock of every success in life is confidence. Confidence has to do with our entire life. It occurs in the mind. As vital as it is in our daily success, so is it even more important when we relate with God. Having confidence in God seems difficult because of some sinful factors surrounding us. We mostly fluctuate in our confidence, forgoing the incomparable and unconditional Love God has towards us, demonstrated in His only begotten Son (Rom. 5:8). That should boost our confidence in Him. How can we daily build our confidence in Christ?

Step 1: Fix your eyes on Jesus (Heb. 12:2). By the Holy Spirit, Jesus supplies the faith we need. He is ready to give strength to the weak, water to the thirsty, bread to the hungry, and power and courage to you, if you would look up and fix your eyes on Him, now and always.

Step 2: Get closer to Him (1 Jn. 2:3). You can’t have confidence in the one you hardly know. Building your confidence in Christ demands that you get closer to Him in daily intake of His Word and prayer. His Word must be your daily guide. Each time we pray and study His Word, He is communicating His mind to us, and that boosts our confidence in Him.

Step 3: Live a righteous life. The righteous are those who have decided to live uprightly by the grace of Christ. No matter how difficult righteous living may be because of the moral decadence and degeneration of our aching world, Christ inputs His righteousness in us as we believe in Him. Good conscience aids our righteous living, and so, builds our confidence in God, for we will have nothing hide (Prov. 28:1). Each time we keep wrong thoughts in our minds, we definitely find it difficult to trust God.

The Lord loves all things He created and has purpose for all. When you have no guilt in your heart and live the life of Christ, your confidence in Him will wax stronger, day by day.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, draw me closer to You, everyday.

2. Lord, help boost my confidence to approach Your throne of grace at all times.

3. Pray for brethren whose trust and confidence in Christ are being shaken by their present difficult situations, that God should strengthen and uphold them.
