TOPIC: ROMOVED AND REPLACED KINGS
TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 16:1-23
MEMORY VERSE: The Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you grieve over Saul, seeing I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have provided for myself a king among his sons” – 1 Samuel 16:1 (GNB)
LESSONS OBJECTIVES: At the end of this lesson, the pupils should be able to:
1. obey God’s instruction totally; and
2. Avoid the wrath of God on their destinies.
When King Saul misbehaved, God replaced him with David the shepherd boy
INTRODUCTION
God chose Saul as a king over His people, Israel. But Saul became arrogant that he could no longer obey God’s directive.
There was a time in the Bible (1 Sam. 15:1-24), when the Amalekites wage war against Israel. God commanded Saul to kill all the Amalekites and destroy everything in their city, but Saul refused to destroy some good items, sheep, goats, camels, etc. This caused God to be angry with Saul.
WEEK ONE: GOD IS ANGRY WITH SAUL

God is our Creator, He created all of us, and He gave us some instructions on how to live our lives to please Him alone. But King Saul failed to obey God’s instructions completely; he chose to please himself, rather than God.
God told Saul to destroy the Amalekites and all their belongings, but he kept some items for himself, including their king, he refused to kill. This caused God to be angry with Saul and decided to change Saul from being King over His people, Israel. God will never be happy with a disobedient child. How obedient are you to God? Do you read and study your Bible as in Joshua 1:8? How often do you pray as in 2 Thessalonians 5:17? Do you live peacefully with others (Hebrews 12:14) Check your obedience to God now and repent.
LESSONS
1. God has never and will never be happy with a disobedient child
2. If you obey some of the law and abandon others, you are still a disobedient child.
WEEK TWO: GOD REPLACED SAUL WITH DAVID
December 5, 2021
Last week, we saw how Saul disappointed God and God was angry with him. Today, we want to see the outcome of Saul’s disobedience to God.
God instructed His prophet Samuel, to anoint David a young shepherd as the next king who will reign instead of Saul who He changed.
God will always punish and reward every act of disobedience. Therefore, do not wait to see the reward for disobedience. God has man the people whom He can use to fulfil His divine work, so be faithful and remain obedient to Him now and always. God hates sin; He replaced Saul.
LESSONS:
1. God is not happy with disobedient child; repent now.
2. God did not only remove Saul but also punished him.
3. God can replace anyone who disappoints Him.
QUESTIONS
1. Explain why God was angry with Saul.
2. Why did God choose David to place Saul instead of rich man?
3. Mention some of the things we do today to disobey God’s Word.
PRAYER: Lord, make me an obedient child and remove the spirit of disobedience in me.

TOPIC: A KING WAS REMOVED AND REPLACED
TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 16:1-23
There was a King in the Bible who was appointed by God, his name is Saul. But one day, God asked him to fight with the Amalekites and destroy the enemies of Israel, but Saul refused to do all what God instructed him.
God was angry with Saul and He decided to changed him as king. So God looked for a godly boy, an obedient and committed to child, called David. God asked His prophet (Samuel) to anoint him.
As children of God, we must obey God totally. If you obey only some of the law and ignore others, you are still a disobedient child.
When it is time for God to replace Saul, David was chosen as the new king in Israel. Children of God, or is not good for us to witness God’s anger. When God’s anger came upon Saul, an evil spirit fell on him and a whole king was behaving like a mad man in the kings palace.
Don’t disobey God wherever He placed you. In your school, obey God, at home obey, in your environment, obey Him in anything, and place God first in your life. It shall be well with you.
MEMORY VERSE: The Lord said to Samuel, how long will you go on grieving over Saul? I have rejected him as king of Israel (1 Sam. 16:1).
PRAYER: MY Lord Jesus, do not replace me but give me the grace to obey you totally.

1. have become aware that God has chosen them to seek Him and to do His will;
2. have learnt that there is always a punishment for sins committed; and
3. Be able to decide to live pure and obedient lives with God’s Word.
INTRODUCTION
A certain king of a certain village misbehaved; he did what a king should not do. As a result, the group of kingmakers in the village agreed together, removed and replaced him with another person. Would you like to be replaced? Therefore, you must make up your mind to always seek and do the will of God.
WEEK ONE: GOD IS ANGRY WITH SAUL

God had rejected Saul, because of his disobedience (the story is in 1 Samuel 15) and He needed another person to be king. Today, God is still searching for people all over the world that He can use for a special task. He wants them to be special vessels in His hands. When Samuel saw Eliab, he thought God would choose him; may be because he was the first son of his father. God told Samuel that He considered the heart and not the physical outlook or attainment, whenever He wants to use anyone. Eliab’s heart was not right with God. It was not clean. If there is sin in your heart, God cannot use you. It does not matter, even if you are the most brilliant child in the class or church, or may even be the pastor’s child. Check your heart; what do you see there? Is it hatred, pride, envy, malice or wickedness? You must ask God to make your heart pure, today.
LESSONS
1. We must not allow any sin in our lives because sin separates us from God.
2. We must keep our hearts pure.
3. We must seek to do the will of God at all times.
WEEK TWO: GOD REPLACED SAUL WITH DAVID
December 5, 2021
David was the youngest child of Jesse and was not at home when Samuel came. Samuel said they should send for him and that nobody will sit down until he comes. Immediately, he came into the house, God commanded Samuel to anoint him. He is going to be the next king of Israel after the reign of the rejected Saul. Despite the fact that he was the smallest of his father’s children, God picked and anointed him. If you want to be special instrument in God’s hands, then, seek to always do the will of God.
LESSONS
1. God can favour anyone who fears Him.
2. Anyone still living in sin will be punished.
3. God wants us to live a life free of sin.
