TEXT: 3 John 1:11
As children of God, we are now in a time where almost all the people around us will love to do things the way they want, not minding what the Bible is asking us to do as believers.
There was a boy who was called, TiOluwani. He attended a boarding school. He was from a very poor family.
Most of the times, when they are in their hostel; he heard other boys narrating the story of how they jumped over the fence in order to steal from the neighbourhood. They used the stolen money to buy provisions and fine things for themselves. But TiOluwani who was asked several times to join them, refused to do that. He preferred to manage the little “garri” that his parents can afford. He feared God and remembered that one day, God will bless him. Therefore, don’t join evil children but do what God asks you to do.
One day, TiOluwani’s friends were caught and dismissed from the school; but TiOluwani passed his exams and was given scholarship to study in England; because he imitated God and not friends. Avoid bad and ungodly friends now.
MEMORY VERSE: Do not let evil defeat you, instead conquer evil with good – Romans 12:21 (GNB).
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, help me in this time of peril.

TEXT: 3 John 1:9-12
MEMORY VERSE: Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good – Romans 12:21
LESSONS OBJECTIVES: At the end of this lesson, the pupils should be able to:
1. live a godly life that will lead others to Christ; and
2. Possess the spirit of boldness and courage to represent God even in dangerous times or situation.
Children must always and follow examples
INTRODUCTION
Imitating good things brings out a good conduct, behaviour, or character in us. Even when a situation arises and doing good things seems dangerous or harmful, God expects us to remain good and godly.
WEEK ONE: DIOTREPHES THE EVIL ONE
Last week, we taught to lay our treasures in heaven, where it will never get destroyed. The Lord will help us to do this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Today, we are going to learn how to imitate God, even when it seems impossible. There are situations when saying the truth can cause a lot of problem or trouble upon us, in such time, a true child of God must not lie but say the truth.
As followers of Christ, we must remain faithful, even to the point of death. Don’t make friends with children who tells lies or who are not faithful. Don’t join the multitude to go against God’s command. Even if it remained only you in a dangerous condition, don’t worry, be bold, Jesus Christ is there with you. Do you remember Daniel and the three Hebrews in the Bible? (Daniel 1:1-21). Remain faithful to the end.
LESSONS
1. We must be faithful in all things.
2. Don’t be discouraged or be afraid of anyone, but only God we must obey.
3. Even at the point of death, we must say the truth.
WEEK TWO: DEMETRIUS THE GOOD EXAMPLE
Last week, we learnt that we must be faithful and do the right thing, no matter the hatred or challenges.
Today, we want to see the outcome of standing alone for God even when others refuse to be on the Lord’s side. Imitating God means you are on the Lord’s side; this will build your faith, and promote your relationship with God.
The Bible in Psalm 34:14 says “Turn away from evil and do good…” God will love anyone who stands for Him and with Him. He will do everything possible to fight and defend such a Christian
Remember Joseph and Potiphar’s wife, despite the fact that Joseph would have been enjoying in his Master’s house, eating and drinking from the king’s delicacies, but he refused the ungogly offer from Mrs. Potiphar and he quickly ran away from her. God gave Joseph victory because he loved to obey God’s word and instructions.
Imitating good is to obey God’s commandments and to do His will alone. Anything that is against the Bible, run away from it. The Lord will grant us the grace in Jesus’ name. Amen.
LESSONS
1. Whosoever stands on the Lord’s side will never be put to shame but he/she will overcome.
2. Imitating good is to obey God’s words in the Bible.
3. Even when you are left alone, imitate the Lord Jesus Christ alone.

1. According to your own understanding, what does it meant to imitate good?

LESSON OBJECTIVES: At the end of this lesson, the students should be able to:
1. differentiate between evil and good;
2. understand the importance of copying godly behaviours, instead of evil ones;
3. be ready to decided to be good Christians like Demetrius; and
4. must be determined to deal with evil works in their lives and around them.
INTRODUCTION
This lesson reveals the story of two men – Diotrephes and Demetrius. They were both members of the same local assembly. One was bad and wicked while the other was a good Christian with good testimonies among the brethren. We are to shun evil and follow after that which is good.
WEEK ONE: DIOTREPHES THE BAD EXAMPLE
Diotrephes was a member and leaders of a local church. He was a petty dictator who considered himself indispensable or irreplaceable. He was rightly accused of series of non-christian practices: he wanted to occupy the leading place; he refused to receive Apostle John; he slandered the other apostles; he was unwilling to entertain missionaries; he attempting to ex-communicate other believers; indeed, he was a very wicked member of the church! People like Diotrephes are plenty in the church and everywhere; children must be careful and should not imitate them, because they are candidates of hell!
LESSONS
1. We must not see ourselves as too good to be replaced.
2. It is perilous to be hostile to God, His servants and things of God.
3. Evil people are everywhere; children must not imitate them.
WEEK TWO: DEMETRIUS THE GOOD EXAMPLE
Apostle John wrote this book to encourage children to follow good examples. Rather than being arrogant, selfish and unwelcoming, like Diotrephes, children are to follow those who seem to have “seen God.” is Demetrius has a good testimony – his associates (i.e colleagues) held him in high esteem; apostle John also held him in high esteem. Children are warned not to imitate evil, but good. These words resemble Paul’s advice in our memory verse. Evil exists, but it’s not something children of God should join, practice or copy. Instead, children of God are to imitate what is good, and overcome evil. This includes avoiding things like violence, revenge, or hatred. In fact, we are to use forgiveness, love and truth. Also, good deeds are evidence of Christian’s faith. While only God sees the heart, and knows who is truly saved, those who do good show evidence of salvation. Those who do evil things are products of doom.
LESSONS
1. The Bible is written to guide us in the path of God, WHO is the BEST.
2. Our Christian lives must be plain and open to serve as models for others.
3. We must desire and pray for the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
