PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: Leaders should ask members why we believers still find ourselves in sin, is it because we are in the generation of grace?

TODAY’S LESSON

A. MEMORY VERSE: “Remember lot’s wife”. Luke 17:32

B. BIBLE TEXT: GENESIS 19:17-26.

1. And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.

2. And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:

3. Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:

4. Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.

5. And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.

6. Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.

7. The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.

8. Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;

9. And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

10. But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

C. LESSON INTRODUCTION: Last week we started the series “LOT’S WIFE”, today we are going to examine what happened to lot’s wife.  From today’s Bible text, God sent His Angels to sodom and Gomorrah, the men of the city demanded that Lot should hand over the Angels to them so that they could have carnal knowledge of them (homosexuality). Little did they know that the Angels were there to destroy the city. The Angels told Lot to escape with his family and that none of them should look back. However, Lot’s wife looked back from behind him and she became a pillar of salt. Gen.19:26.

LEADERS DIARY

A. LESSON AIM: To admonish Christians to constantly be obedient to God’s instructions

B. TEACHING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, members should be able to know that:

i. God hates disobedience.

ii. Disobedience can destroy God plan for us.

C. TEXT REVIEW: GENESIS 19:17-26

i. Disobedience to God’s instructions can bring God’s anger.

ii. Disobedience to any instructions that comes from God always has its consequence.

D. TEACHING METHOD: Use interactive/discussion method.

E.TIME MANAGEMENT: Share the teaching time using the suggested time schedule.

LESSON OUTLINE:

DISOBEDIENCE TO GOD’S INSTRUCTIONS OR WORDS AND ITS REPERCUSIONS.

Right from the time immemorial, disobedience to any instruction that comes from God always has its consequence. For example, after God created man (Adam), He gave him instruction not to eat the fruit at the middle of the garden when he and his wife disobeyed, they were made to face the consequence. Genesis 3:1-7.

PEOPLE THAT DISOBEYED GOD’S INSTRUCTION AND FACED THE CONSEQUENCE.

1. King Saul refuse to follow God’s instruction completely. God rejected him from continuing as a king. 1Sam. 15: 16-23.

2. Pharaoh refused to let the Israelites receive their freedom, God buried in the Red Sea. Exodus 14:27-28.

3. Lot’s wife was told not to look  back she refused and became a pillar of salt. Genesis 19:23-26.

4. Ananias and his wife Sapphire lied, and they were killed by the Holy Spirit. Act.5:3-10

ACTIVITY: Discuss why believers disobey God’s instruction?

SUMMARY: It is better to be obedient to God’s instructions than to face the consequence.

CONCLUSION: Whatsoever you are doing either as a Christian or an unbeliever, please remember what happened to Lot’s wife.
