ZEAL WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE

Date: Saturday, April 30, 2022

Bible Text: Romans 10:1-5

Memory Verse: “For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge.” Romans 10:2, NIV

All the religions of the world claim that there is a Supreme Being called God. A particular religion preaches that God has no children; it frowns at reincarnation, claiming that God had not appeared in human form. This particular religion teaches that their faithful can kill those who do not believe in their religion. Those who are very deep in the religion also willingly embark on suicidal missions to be able to kill other people and take as much lives as they can with them to the grave. All of these they claim are ways to serve their god faithfully.

The Jews, during the time Apostle Paul wrote the epistle to the Romans, were like the people of the religion I described above. Many of them do everything to oppose the gospel and the gospel preachers such as Apostle Paul. They claimed to know God; they had great zeal to even defend their belief against the gospel. Apostle Paul was also one of them before. But when he saw the light of the gospel, he described his former fellow Jews as people who had zeal without knowledge.

Mere religion without personal knowledge of God and His ways is a dangerous phenomenon in human society. Never settle down on common knowledge about God. Seek to know Him personally. There is nothing better, but to have an encounter with God.

Insight: The knowledge of truth will always liberate you to live the life of God.

Prayer: My heavenly Father, let the Spirit of truth guide me always in Jesus name!

RBT Passage: 1 Chronicles 5-6
