CHRIST’S AMBASSADORS
READ 2 CORINTHIANS 5V18-20

18 NIV:All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:
19 NIV:that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
20 NIV:We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

Memorise: NIV:But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,
(Philippians 3v20).

Exposition
An ambassador is an official envoy, a high-ranking diplomat who represents a state, and is usually accredited to another sovereign state, or an international organisation as the resident representative of his/her own government. Summarily, he/she is somebody regarded as a representative or a symbol of someone else or a group of persons, e.g. a diplomatic official of the highest rank sent by one country as her long-term representative to another. It is important to talk about an ambassador, who is both an image maker and a peace keeper of his country on this day, which commemorates International Day of UN Peacekeepers.

An ambassador of Christ is a Christian living on this planet earth, but here representing the God of heaven. He/she is representing/defending the holy interest of the righteous God through our Lord Jesus Christ here in the world. Christians are Christ’s ambassadors because we have been approved by God to be entrusted with His gospel. This world is not our home; NIV:But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, (Philip 3v20). The words of Jacob, when shall I also provide for my own house? (Gen.30v30) should be the attitude of the heavenly-bound Christian.
As Christ’s ambassadors, we must not be carried away by the ephemeral pleasures and beauty of this world to the detriment of our commitment to our diverse God-given mandates and ministries that we must fulfil in the course of our sojouring here on earth (2 Cor.5:19, c.f.. Col. 4v17). We are to strive so hard to reconcile sinners to God just as Christ Jesus had reconciled us to the Father through His blood. As an ambassador to a foreign country has rules and regulations guiding his conduct, so are Christ’s ambassadors; we have the law of God in His Word, to guide our conduct here on earth. Adhere strictly to what the Bible says (Jos. 1v8). In addition, we must constantly depend on the Holy Spirit for His backing, and should never align with the enemies of the Cross. May we never fail our Lord. Amen.

prayer points
1. Pray that the Holy Spirit, will constantly pierce and convict your heart whenever you are derailing from the path of righteousness.
2. Pray for renewal of strength to continue with your God-given mandate.
3. Pray for divine utterance and fresh anointing for all ministers of the Gospel.
