NEVER WALK AROUND NAKED

READ LUKE 8v26-29
26 KJV:And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee.
27 KJV:And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs.
28A
KJV:When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.
29 KJV:(For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)

Memorise: KJV:Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
(Ephesians 6v11).

Exposition
Have you ever stopped and wondered why we wear clothes? You might say it is an old and odd custom. However, far better than that answer, you need to know that the ‘naked glory’ of God that once covered Adam and Eve, represented innocence, and was taken away after the Fall from humans, due to the original sin, called disobedience (Gen.3v7,21), and ever since, every nakedness demands covering. KJV:And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. (Gen. 3v7).

When the biblical depiction of nakedness and clothing were surveyed, it is overwhelming to know that nakedness is associated with deficiency and shame. For example, when Joseph’s brothers came to him during the 7-year famine, he accused them of spying on the nakedness of the land (Gen.42v9). Job, bald and childless, declared that he would leave this world as bare (naked)as he came (Job. 1v21). Jesus paired being “naked” with the hungry, the diseased, and the incarcerated, whereas none of these is desirable (Matt. 25v35-40). The maniac of Gadarenes had himself stripped of clothes by the indwelling demons. Nakedness, spiritual or physical, exposes anyone to attack and degradation. Please guard yourself against it.

The Scripture commands that we put on the Lord Jesus Christ as our secure garment against all forms of nakedness (vulnerability), lest the devil, our enemy (Rom.13v14, Gal.3v14, Gal.3v27), takes advantage of us. Christians are never expected to be exposed to this perilous world. The Lord Jesus is our all-weather provision (wardrobe)as Ephesians 6v10-18 pictures it. Therefore, be clothed by Him that you may stand against all wiles of the devil in time and never be ashamed before His presence in eternity (Rev.7v14). Stop walking around naked.

Prayer points
1. O Lord my God, clothes me with Yourself, lest I am endangered.
2. I rebuke every spirit and manifestation of nakedness in my life, home, ministry, and endeavours in Jesus name.
3. Holy Spirit, help us as we preach Your Word to sinners, that they would see their nakedness, and by this, run to You for the right covering, in Jesus name.
