NO PLACE FOR IDLENESS
Read Genesis 1v3-30

(1 Thessalonians 4v11).
Exposition
Work is an activity that involves mental and physical efforts, done in order to achieve a purpose or result. It is a task to be undertaken. Our Heavenly Father gave us the order to work. The Bible begins with the account of God at work, working for 6 days to show us the example of what work should be. Jesus Christ, during His earthly ministry, decleared that He must do the work of His Father (Jn.9v4). The Holy spirit has been working since creation. God commanded Adam to keep the garden (Gen.2v15). After Man’s fall, God sent him out of the garden, still not to be idle, but to work (Gen. 3v19). Since then, man has got work to do.
Abel was a cattle-rearer, Cain a farmer, Nimrod, a hunter, Noah, a farmer, Ezra, a teacher of the Word, and Aquila and Priscilla, tentmakers, to mention but few. Even the Israelites were charged to work when they finally settled down in Cannan (Exod.20v9). The patriarchs of faith, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and their descendants, all worked. Apostle Paul, also laid a good example (2 Thess. 3v7-9). Why are so many people idle today, without anything doing in particular even as today commemorates United Nations Public Service Day and International Windows Day?
An adage says, “An idle hand is the devil’s workshop” There is danger for anyone who does not have anything doing with his/her hands; those would live in poverty, no matter how hard they can pray. Majority suffer in their old ages because of not working hard in their youth, when they were still agile. Anyone who chooses to be idle when he/she should achieve in life. Working has several benefits. We work to make ends meet. God is interested in us making profits after engaging in legitimate works/businesses. What are you doing with your hands now? Do not be idle. Make sure you are engaged with a godly work/business, so that you can enjoy the benefits of work, and also be one of thsoe who contributes to the growth of the world.
Prayer points
1. Lord, I committ myself into Your hands. Give me the strength to be diligent in that You give me to do.
2. Pray that God will rain His blessings upon your work/business as you go out for it, daily.
3. Pray for the unemployed that God will open doors of employment/opportunities for them.
