Study 2/4

April 21 – Easter Sunday

Sub-Theme 2: GODLY LEADERSHIP.

TOPIC – The Need in the Polity/Society.

TEXT: 2 Chron. 16:1-10.

AIMS: To help participants i. understand the meaning and scope of polity/society; ii. realize that the polity/society are God’s avenues of demonstrating godly leadership; iii. discuss the effect of lack of godly leadership in our polity/ society.

INTRODUCTION

The world has two (2) kingdoms consisting of God’s people and those who follow the dictates of Satan. The mixed multitude in the world poses a great challenge to the mind and disposition of godly leadership. The two classes of people determine how issues concerning the polity and society are handled. This study therefore seeks to show godly leaders in the polity and society who can please God.

STUDY GUIDE:

1. Define the words: ‘polity’ and ‘society’.

2. Identify the nature and scope of the polity/society from: Gen.12:1; 13:1-9; Matt. 20:20-23; Titus 1: 5.

3. How are polity and society avenues for demonstrating godly leadership? Cf. Acts 1: 8; Neh.13:7-12.

4. What are some of the indicators (in biblical times and today’s society) that point at the urgent need for godly leaders? 2 Chron. 16:1-10; 18:4-7; 1Kings 21:1-16.

CONCLUSION:

As some items in the market are designated essential commodities, so also are godly leaders and leadership ‘essential commodities’ in the polity and society. So we are to strive to provide godly leadership wherever and in whatever level of service we may be.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Truly godly leaders play politics in ways that build healthy and growing societies.

MEMORY VERSE: Titus 1: 5. Study 2/5
