LESSON TWENTY ONE.
WALKING IN THE SPIRIT — ROMANS 8:1-1
September 29th, 2019.
Memory Verse: Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as those. Mark 10:14b. (RSV)
Lesson Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to:
i. identify how to walk in the spirit.
ii. understand the blessing of walking in the Spirit; and
iii. recognise that Holy Spirit helps.
To walk in the Spirit is to obediently follow the teachings of the Bible.
INTRODUCTION
We have the assurance as believers that there is power to overcome sin and for us to live a life of victory and hope, we must accept and live our lives in Jesus Christ our Saviour. The Bible explains the blessings we have in Jesus, because we are no longer condemned but justified by the grace and faith in Jesus Christ.
FIRST WEEK:
THE BLESSINGS WE HAVE IN THE SPIRIT
As children of the living God, there are blessings that have been prepared for everyone that walks and lives in Jesus Christ. We have been adopted into the family of God and are heading for glory and divine power.
When we walk in the spirit of God, there will be no more condemnation for those who are in Christ. Nobody can accuse u; neither Satan nor anyone else can us our past lifestyle against us before God our maker and defender.
There are blessings for being in the Spirit. If you are in the spirit, you will have peace of mind, joy, comfort and, the presence of God will be with you always; you will be a victor and not a victim.
Satan and his host will never overcome you and you will be a terror to the kingdom of Satan.
LESSONS
1. For us to please God, we must walk in the Spirit.
2. There are a lot of blessings for anyone who walks in the Spirit.
3. God commanded us to walk in spirit.
SECOND WEEK:
A MIND CONTROLLED BY THE SPIRIT – ROMANS 8:5-11.
October 6th, 2019.
When we walk in the Spirit of God, our minds, thoughts and actions will be led and controlled by the Holy Spirit. If we choose to set our minds on the desires of our sinful and ungodly nature, it will lead us to sin and rebellion against God. But if we choose to obey the leading of the spirit, it will establish our lives to be at peace with God. A spirit controlled mind thinks about the carnal things. Bear it in mind that it is our minds that set the agenda for our relationship and attitudes towards God. If your mind is controlled by God, it will make you to delight in God.
We must allow the Spirit of God to dwell in us, so that it will take total control of our lives and at the same time, counter the power and manifestation of sin.
LESSONS
1. For us to succeed in life, we must walk in the Spirit.
2. It is only the Holy Spirit that can lead us aright and to God’s will.
3. When we walk in the spirit, there are divine blessings for us.
4. We should allow the Holy Spirit to take total control of our lives.
