TOPIC – Spiritual Gifts (I)
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ecclesiastes 10-12; Galatians 1
FIRE SCRIPTURE: Romans 12:4-8
MEMORY VERSE: “For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.” – 1 Corinthians 7:7
The MESSAGE:
God has special gifts He wants to bestow on some people. He also has the conditions or criteria anyone who would get the gifts must possess. Who are God’s spiritual gifts for? They are for genuinely born again Christians and true friends of God. They are for the obedient (those who do His will). They are for His ambassadors and those who are committed to the kingdom building assignment and the Great Commission (soul winning). They are also for those who endure to the end.
What are these spiritual gifts? The first is everlasting name. In Isaiah 56:4-5, the Bible says, “For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant; Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.”
Another spiritual gift God has for believers is spiritual knowledge. The Bible affirms that by knowledge shall the righteous be delivered. You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. Jeremiah 24:7 buttresses this point, “And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.”
Similarly, God has the spiritual gift of a new heart for all believers. Without a new heart, washed, purged, sanctified by the blood of Jesus and regenerated by the Holy Spirit, no one can successfully serve God and live a mountain-top life. In Ezekiel 11:19, God made this promise, “And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh.” This promise is for you. Are they already fulfilled in your life?
Beloved, examine yourself to see if you are in faith. Make the necessary corrections or adjustments you need to make in order to see the manifestation of these spiritual gifts in your life as well as the positive transformation that should come with them into your life. They are important to your life here on earth and in eternity.
