February 14, 2020 ECWA Food For Today Devotional :- THE POWER OF LOVE

FRIDAY, 14 FEBRUARY
TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 13: 1 – 13
TOPIC: THE POWER OF LOVE
In April 1991, American Songwriter and singer, Luther
Vandross released a song titled “Power of Love”. In it, he
described love as a feeling next to none and one that cannot
be denied, coming from above. Most intriguing about
Vandross’ song is the fact that he did not see love as
something that humans could create. Humans can share love,
but it comes from above.
Today is Valentine – lovers’ day!
Today, many are attempting to share love. Unfortunately, many
will be attempting to share love whose origin they do not
know. Others will be attempting to share love that they have
created through gifts, romance and illicit sex.
Our passage for today’s devotion clearly defines the kind of
love that should characterize Valentine. This kind of love
among so many other virtues is not self-seeking (vs. 4). If that
is the only thing we remember as we celebrate love today, all
will go well. Love is not about you; it is about the other person.
Jesus did not come for His sake but for the world. Remember
that today!
QUESTION:
How much of God’s love have you received, how
much of it are you giving out?
PRAYER:
LORD, please take me back to the love that brought
me to You. Help me to share that with someone today, Amen.
