TOPIC: GOD FREELY PROTECTS AND PROVIDES FOR HIS BELOVED

Many years ago, a preacher began his sermon by telling his congregation that Psalm 23 was all about the protection and provision of God for His people. But then, in a most bizarre interpretation of this Psalms, the preacher went on to say that, for the promise of Psalm 23 to be a reality in their lives, those who needed a protection of the cover of the blood of Jesus should sow seeds in tens of naira (ten naira was red in colour) and twenties of naira (green in colour then). According to him, this would ensure they enjoy the green pastures of God. For those who wanted to just rest by the still waters and enjoy God’s overflowing provisions, they were required to sow seed in fifties of naira, which was the highest denomination at the time and had the grey colour of still waters.
The truth is that King David reflected on God’s protection and lavish provision for him, despite his shortcomings and sins and came to the conclusion that God was treating him just like a Good Shepherd would treat his sheep, with great love! God loves you so much and wants to be a Good Shepherd to you too. But like King David, you need to be a man after God’s own heart because you can never buy God’s protection and love through seed sowing.
