BID FOR THE BEST

TEXT: ROMANS 8:28-32

MEMORY VERSE: “But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way” (1 CORINTHIANS 12:31).

Someone said, “Better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble without it.” The natural instinct in human beings is to take the path of least resistance to settle for whatever good thing is available when something better is just ahead. This is the reason why many youths end up in mediocrity in life. A young man who was desperate to gain admission to the university told his friends that all he wanted was a degree, even if it was a degree in human waste disposal. Eventually, he was admitted to a university where he worked very hard to read law and became a successful Barrister at law. He did not see himself suitable for the best initially but later changed his mind and got it. Remember, the good is the enemy of the best.

The Israelites missed God’s best because of disobedience and impatience. If you will not settle for anything less than your best, you will be surprised at what you can accomplish in your life. To get God’s best, give him your best – your life.

QUOTE: The good is the enemy of the best.

CHALLENGE: Only the best is good enough.

PRAYER: Father, help me to always settle for your best for my life.
