TOPIC: YOU AND FORGIVENESS

Read Job 42:7-16

[7]And it was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.

[8]Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.

[9]So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went, and did according as the LORD commanded them: the LORD also accepted Job.

[10]And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.

[11]Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the LORD had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one an earring of gold.

[12]So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses.

[13]He had also seven sons and three daughters.

[14]And he called the name of the first, Jemima; and the name of the second, Kezia; and the name of the third, Kerenhappuch.

[15]And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job: and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren.

[16]After this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons’ sons, even four generations.

MEMORISE: For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly father will also forgive you (Matthew 6:14)

EXPOSITION

God commanded that all sin must be forgiven irrespective of how grievous it is and how badly it hurts. We forgive sin not only for the benefit of the offender but more importantly for our good.

We forgive sinners firstly for our sins to be forgiven. And forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. Matt. 6:12. It is not out of place to be offended Bible says we should make allowance for it. (Col. 3:13). We have it a duty to forgive our offenders. Remember you are a sinner and unforgiveness is a denial that we belong to the God. When we forgive, we have the assurance that ours are equally forgiven. It should not be difficult for us to forgive if indeed we are His. Always be ready to forgive.

Secondly, that we might do good. When sins are covered, the sinners deny themselves the blessing of God. But He that confesses his sins and forsakes them will find mercy from God. Mercy in all he does.

Thirdly, to be blessed of God. Unforgiveness is a sin and the prayer of a sinner is abominable to God. He can’t get anything worthwhile from God. Pro. 13:34 Job was able to get His best from God after he had forgiven and prayed for his friends. Forgiveness attracts unqualified manifold blessings from God.

Fourthly, to be free from spiritual and physical sicknesses, don’t be bitter to those who offend you. Eph. 4:31-32. Bitterness from unforgiveness causes different kind of sicknesses such as bitterness, heart attack, hypertension, guilt, dejection, etc.

Lastly, that you may see God. The main reason you are a Christian is to reign with Christ in His Father’s Kingdom. No sinner will see God, Bible says. If your sin is not forgiven, you won’t make heaven. What a disaster to labour in vain in His vineyard. That will not be your portion in Jesus’ name. Jesus says He had gone to prepare a place for us. Do you want another man to occupy your manson over there? God forbid!

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord Jesus, make it easy for me to always obey your commands.

2. Restore every couple that have separated due to unforgiveness in Jesus’ name.

3. Let the spirit of forgiveness reign across the land in the name of Jesus.
