PRAYER POINT: Oh Lord, please help me not to make any costly mistake in life.
PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: Leader should tell the members to mention names of people who died without Christ in the New Testament.

Isaiah 1:19-20;
19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
James 4:4;
4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
Galatians 5:16;
16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

INTRODUCTION:
There is a difference between godly and ungodly opportunities. Any opportunity gotten without Heaven’s approval through the Word of God is nothing but an ungodly opportunity. Ability to say no to ungodly opportunities places one on the side of God who rewards such loyalty. Sometimes, many ungodly opportunities appear as Heaven’s sent, but we need to be very sensitive and always be at alert to discern those opportunities that are not godly. Don’t sleep with your boss for that job or promotion. Don’t offer bribe to get that contract. Don’t pay a third party to sit for your child in exams.
LESSON OUTLINES
A. BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF UNGODLY OPPORTUNITIES
- Joseph was seduced on daily basis by his master’s wife but he refused to sleep with her. Genesis 39:7-10. God gave him great favour before King Pharaoh.
- Eve was lured by the serpent (the devil) to eat from the fruit of the tree forbidden forbidden by God. Genesis 3:1-6. She ate and offered Adam who also ate. Genesis 3:6. God pronounced judgement upon them and drove them out of the garden of Eden.
- Job was lured by the devil using the wife who told him “to curse him and die” Job 2:9-10 but he refused and at the end of it all, God gave double fold restoration of everything he has lost.
- Gehazi saw an ungodly opportunity to collect the gifts which Naaman brought for Elisha but was turned down. 2 Kings 5:20-24. He ended up as a leper. 2 Kings 5:25-27.
B. CONSEQUENCES OF UNGODLY OPPORTUNITIES
- Calamity.
2 Samuel 11:1-5,9-12. - Their years are shortened.
Proverbs 10:27, Psalms 55:23. - Pronouncement of judgement.
Genesis 3:14-19 - Sickness and disease.
James 5:1-3. - Their descendants may be affected too.
2 Kings 5:27. - Shame. Jeremiah 17:11, Isaiah 47:1 – 5.
- Eternal damnation in hell.
Luke 16:19-31.
LESSON ACTIVITIES:
State at least three Biblical characters who went after ungodly opportunities and the consequences that followed thereafter.
SUMMARY:
Be sensitive in all the opportunities before you and take the ones that are Godly.
CONCLUSION:
As believers, we must not value earthly possession more than our salvation. Remember that the devil is looking for who to devour.
1 Peter 5:8, 1 Corinthians 10 :12 “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall”. Work out your salvation with fear and trembly Philippians 2:12.

1. Thank God for His faith.
2. Father, grant me the enabling grace to overcome temptation all times.
3. Pray that no member of RCCG shall be victim of ungodly opportunities.
4. Pray intensely for Daddy G.O and his family.
5. Personal prayer requests.
