BLOODY HANDS!

Read: Proverbs 6:12-19

Proverbs 6:12-19  A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.

He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;

Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.

Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.

These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

MEMORISE:

A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood (Proverbs 6:17).

EXPOSITION

Regular hands washing is one of the things that has gained unprecedented popularity in the world today, courtesy of the likes of the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, it is normal personal hygiene. That is the medical dimension of handwashing. Notwithstanding the aforesaid, however, if the hands are thoroughly washed with soap and water, they may still remain stained with blood! (Prov. 12:6; Isa. 1:15) Blood is life (Lev. 17:11). When the body’s blood is failing, life is leaving such an individual! Meanwhile, we need an understanding of this idea from the more spiritual dimension.

People are out there with bloody hands due to godless deeds, hands, for instance, they use to falsify figures; hands used to sign unscrupulous, white elephant projects; hands they use to sign bills that destroy others or public properties! What do you use your hands to do? Some hands are full of bribes, thereby perverting justice! (Job 15:34) Thank God for the different governments of nations who are, for instance, doing everything to ensure that their uniformed men stop the cancer called bribery among them. This is worth mentioning as the world celebrates International Customs Day.

Sadly, so many political leaders’ hands are full of blood, whether through direct or indirect murder, or squeezing lives out of the less privileged/masses. Many lives have been lost under their carefree and selfish watch! God will surely hold them accountable (Psa. 106:38).

Dear devout, watch out! Be careful to give or receive bribe. Be scripturally guided to avoid being stained. Crave for having and sustaining clean hands (Psa. 15:4; 24:3). This is in no way referring to literary washing of hands with water, but it tells of those whose hearts are pure, and extending to others, even to all parts of the body. If your hands are already defiled, submit to the Cross and be blood washed, Holy Spirit assisting you.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord, make me holy wholly.

2. Lord, help me not to be a partaker with evil doers.

3. Lord, deliver the leaders of Your people from bloodshed and ritual killings in Jesus’ name.
