TOPIC: LOVING GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART.
As Christians, we always profess or claim that we love God with all our hearts, but the question is do we really love God with all our hearts?
(Matthew 22:37-38) Jesus replied : Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind; This is the first and the greatest commandment. How can we find out if we love God with all our hearts ?
We have to understand the meaning of love. For instance, when you love your husband or your wife , you always try to do the things that you think that will please them. If the love is really genuine , you are ready to give your life for him or her. You want to give him or her your very best, you like to spend time with them all the time,. When you are going out you like to go with him , whenever you go to the store you are looking for something that he or she will like. You call them sweetheart, darling, my love . I mean , you will like to adore this your lover at all times , anything that will make him or her upset, you try as much as possible to run away from it.
Then how do we love God our father with our whole heart, mind and soul? How do we love God with our whole heart when we do not even know whom He is? You have to come close to someone before you learn their character. We have to know whom He is by coming closer to Him first. We don’t even have time to come closer to Him. We cannot know God if we are not coming closer to Him. He is a wonderful God. No one can fathom His character. He appeared to Moses in a flame of fire. He is a mysterious God. We have to really come closer to Him, and when we come to Him , that is the time we will understand the importance of loving Him with our whole beings.
How can we love Him when we get up in the morning and make our schedules for the day but having our quiet time in the morning will not be on that schedule? How can we show him love when we can go for a whole month without reading our bible?
How can we know or love Him when we will get up in the morning we jump into our social media without giving Him thanks for waking us up in the morning?
How can we know or love Him when we try to seek Him only during the time of life’s crisis.? How can we know or love Him When we can only seek Him only the time we are looking for prosperity ?
Even after We seek Him and He answers our prayers , we will continue to go about our normal business, ? then come back to seek Him again when another problem comes up. How can we know or love Him when we come to Him only when something start going wrong again? When it comes to the things of God we are always in a hurry. If we ever go to church when the preacher is preaching we are looking at the time and getting irritated. Our spiritual lifestyle remain stagnant.
Our God is very merciful, He is compassionate, and gracious (Psalm 103:1 )
God is always mindful of us , it is disheartening that we do not have time for Him. Some of us can go from month to month without praying, or reading our bible. Now during this pandemic many of us are using this world economic crisis to give excuses not to come closer to God. Rev. 3:20 Here I am , I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
Our God is desiring for us to come near to Him and appreciate Him .Love him with all our hearts. He said He had gone to prepare us a place and that He is coming to take us with Him.(John 14:2-3) God needs our heart, soul and mind. He had unconditional love for us and He wants us to go a little more extra miles to appreciate Him. What are you doing for God? As your Heavenly Father , what are you doing for Him, ? how are you serving Him? Whenever we kneel down to pray we ask God please give me this, give me that, but we have nothing to offer to Him, not even our time, which even belongs to Him .We remain Ingratitude to God. Our relationship with God is only one way traffic relationship. It is supposed to be two way traffic. Let us have a different mind set today concerning our relationship with Christ. He is with us all the time. Even when we are sleeping He is watching over us. He said He is with us all the way, let us appreciate this our God.
Prayers: Thank you Lord for your unconditional love for me. Oh Heavenly Father, please grant me the grace to love you from my whole heart. Help me to show you gratitude for all you have done for me. Grant me the grace to continue to abide in your love forever in Jesus name. Amen !! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
