Topic : The Lord Desires our Worship.

Worship is the act of attributing reverence, honor and homage to God Almighty, an act of expressing reverence to our sovereign God . When we show extravagant respect or admiration , devotion to  our Supernatural, Omnipotent and benevolent God, we are giving Him our worship.

(Matthew 22:37-40) Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it : “You shall love your neighbor as yourself; In these two commandments hang all the law and Prophets”.

For us to give God worship requires more than going to church, partaking in holy communion, confirmation etc. We have to bring out our whole hearts, mind and spirit to serve Him, and when we show love to our neighbors we are worshiping God.

Worshiping God have a lot of  packages, it is not a ceremonial thing .It is a recommencing process. (Mathew 26:6-9) While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of Simon the leper, a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of a very expensive perfume, which she poured on His head as he was reclining at the table. When the disciples saw this , they were indignant. Why this waste? They asked. This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor.

This woman with alabaster oil did not think about how expensive that oil was, when she brought it she did not even think about using it sparingly on Jesus but she lavishly poured it on Him, that made the people around there began to question her ignorance , which they thought she was. She was trying to appreciate Jesus, she was trying to show Jesus love . She lavished that expensive oil on Jesus, without reserve. That was an act of worship, I could feel her heart, pouring that oil from the bottom of her heart, without knowing what it would lead to. In Vs 13 Jesus said,  “Truly I tell you wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world what she has done will also be told, in memory of her”. When we worship God,  our worship will never go unnoticed or without reward in Jesus name.

(Luke 7:37-38) A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. As she stood behind Him at His feet weeping, she began to wet His  feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.

This woman was still not tired of worshiping God. She did not only lavish  the oil on Jesus, she used her hairs and rolled them on Jesus, with tears of joy coming out from her eyes, using them again to adore the Messiah , oh my God !! . What a wonderful time in the presence of the Lord.

My brother, my sister, how are you worshiping God in your life? Are you a ceremonial worshipper? You only come to God only in time of trouble? Only when you are sick? You come to God only when you are in need of one thing or the other?  You wait to receive calls before you can come to fellowship, even when you come you think you are doing somebody a favor, you have nothing to give to God, not your time , not even your money. When are you going to start worshiping God ? Why not start today ?

Let us develop the attitude of worship. When you wake up in the morning you are not giving God thanks for His goodness and mercies upon your life. We don’t show gratitude. We don’t have relationship with Him. We don’t know Him as our Lord and savior. We don’t even remember Him unless there is a problem. A heart that worships God will be thinking about God all the time, everything you are doing you do it out of love of Christ, do it as unto the Lord.

He is always mindful of us. Let us also always be mindful of our Lord. When you see that beggar on the street or your neighbor in need and help Him you are worshiping God. When you tell people that Jesus is coming soon, you are worshiping God.

When you are using your money to help in building the Kingdom of God you are worshiping God. Anyone desiring to worship God will always be looking for something to do for God. It will not be a selfish relation ship. Me me me, relationship with God . That is not worshiping God with all your heart, all your mind  all your soul etc. Are you ready to worship Him from today? It is every moment business. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall  direct your path. (proverbs 3:6)

You cannot worship God if you have not given your life to Jesus. There is no way you can worship God if your relationship with Him is not yet established. You have to give your life to Him first. After you have given your life to Him you will begin to feel His glory in your life, then  you will understand the significant of worshiping Him. It comes with blessings and everlasting reward. God bless you.

Prayers: (1) Thank You Jesus for what you have done for me at the cross of Calvary. (2) Thank you for your loving kindness that endures for ever. (3) Help me Lord to always appreciate you and have a heart that is willing to give you worship in Jesus name. Thou art worthy oh Lord to receive all the glory and all my Worship in Jesus mighty name. AMEN. You are worthy my God. Take all the glory. In Jesus Holy name. Amen and Amen.
