TIMOTHY’S REPORT

Read: 1 Thessalonians 3:6-10

1 Thessalonians 3:6-10  But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:

Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith:

For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord.

For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God;

Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?

MEMORISSE:

As cold water to a weary soul, so is good news from a far country (Proverbs 25:25)

EXPOSITION

Report is usually detailed account or statement of something. It communicates the condition of a situation. Who gives you report about issues of life? Timothy took cheering news from Paul to the Thessalonian Church. The news that edifies, strengthens and encourages. The very words needed in time of trouble and despair. He equally had words that take away fear, the true picture of the Thessalonian brethren. The result that lessens their pains – the fruit of their labour is bountiful. Is anything more cheering? vv6-8. Does your report encourage other brethren? To Paul, it is good to know that the Thessalonians brethren remain faithful in the midst of trouble and persecution.

Nehemiah needed report about Jerusalem, he knew the men who really loved God and he approached them for the information. He looked for those who can give true picture of the happenings in Jerusalem. The information held him to take right steps. Let godly people be the source of your information.

Be the carrier comforting messages that lift man’s spirit, draw man to God; and give hope. Can your report be trusted?

The nature of report taken to others will inform their response, either to God or to the devil. Don’t be the evil reporter that takes people away from the grace offered by Christ. The only report to carry around is the Good News. It can’t be outdated; it’s new by the day. Think of one person daily who needs to hear the Good News and be sure it gets to him. This will surely comfort them as cold water to the thirsty. Imagine a cold cup of water from a friend after a long walk on a sunny day.

PRAYER POINTS

1. I receive the grace to be a carrier of good news everywhere l go and in all my endeavours.

2. Pray that God will pass through our churches for total cleansing, and renew right spirit within every congregant.

3. Pray that God will uphold all believers to the end, in Jesus’ name.
