AVOID LOW SELF – ESTEEM.

Read Numbers 13:21-33

MEMORISE: There we saw the giants (the descentants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight (Numbers 13:33).

EXPOSITION

When there is misconstrued understanding of a concept, misapplication and misinterpretation cannot but set in. There is clear variance between self-esteem and egotism although many have mixed the two up. To be egoistic does not necessarily mean having self- esteem and vice versa. Egoistic is seeking the draw attention to oneself by doing things that will only appeal to oneself. Definitely, this is not self-esteem, which is self-worth, confidence that one has in himself or a feeling of being happy with your own behaviour, abilities or character.

Every human needs to build his or her self-esteem for that’s your worth (Prov. 23:7). The way you present, package and conduct yourself inwardly and outwardly, is very important (Matt. 12:35). Many are not getting things in right perspective due to low self-esteem! You must be motivated, inspired and boosted by your own self to be able to accomplish fulfilment in all spheres of life. Do not be like the coward spies who belittled God’s ability in them.

This was what the famous psychologist; Abraham Maslow understood when he propounded self-esteem as one of the needs of man. Some are great discouragers of themselves! They truly conceivena beautiful idea or concept, of which they should follow up with enthusiasm and confidence. However, this beautiful idea ends up into zero because of absence of self-esteem. You don’t become prosperous in whatever you do without self-esteem.

Dear devout, you need to build your self-esteem. You should dress, comport, conduct, talk and walk in a way that portrays someone who may look ordinary but can do extra-ordinary exploits. This differs from pride. You must be proud of your self-worth. All what you need to succeed is in-built. You only need to activate this to be what God made you to be originally. (Jer. 29:11). Receive abundant grace and knowledge for this today and always. (Amen).

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, help me to put Your ability into me in action.

2. Like Gideon, help all your children to realise that You have loaded and endowed each person for something and somewhere.

3. Rather than being egoistic, give every believer in You, the grace to discover their worth in You and continually display same, in Jesus’ name.
